This is the lighting set up from the images I shared last time. When I'm teaching photography, I ask my students to think about what's just outside the frame.

In this situation, I have two long narrow soft boxes illuminating my model from both sides. Because the light is contained and modified by a tall rectangular structure, no direct light hits the face.

I really loved the way this turned out! It's really fun when I can match my background color to an outfit!

Are you celebrating or protesting this 4th of July? I for one, think it's important to remember that America is a country built by immigrants & freedom in a time of monarchs & authoritarians.

This 4th I hope you'll celebrate by talking to your neighbors or striking up a conversation at the grocery store and remembering we're more alike than we are *different.

Celebrating 250 years of America with the Freedom Plane earlier this year. The first stop for the plane was Kansas City and I was asked to photograph the moment for the archives.

Shout out to all of the majestic beasts who’ve brought joy into our lives and left us with broken hearts in their wake.

On Friday, I said goodbye to my first dog, Pete; My heart is absolutely shattered.

Making that final decision is a type of heartbreak nothing can prepare you for- even though I tried...

I put off thinking about it bc I didn’t want to face it and I began to panic when the mobile vet pulled into my driveway.

He began sedation almost immediately and it felt like our goodbye was stolen...

For anyone who’s been here too- you’re not alone. Please share a photo of your fur baby in the comments. And hug your animals a little tighter for me tonight. xoox
