📝Those were the words the director used to describe the look we were going for on our pre-pro call.

It’s takes a lot more than just lighting to achieve an intentional look, but it certainly plays a big role. So how do you go from vague nouns and adjectives to a final image?

My favorite way to get on the same page with the director and DP is to ask them for reference images. It’s helpful in two ways: it gives us a common visual language to understand what the end result should be, and it allows us to start reverse engineering the lighting to see what kind of tools and resources we need to accomplish that task.

For this scene, we used a couple of space lights for ambient exposure and skirted the back side to keep them from spilling on the walls. We knew we wanted a big soft key source to create shape on the subject as well as the set. So we we BajaBlasted™️ three 5K tungsten fresnels into an 8x8 ultrabounce through 1/2 grid cloth diffusion and control grid. Put some solids up on the sides to keep light from spraying all over.

Deleted my CGTrader account after they sent me an email that they are implementing an AI license by default on all existing models to help train an AI replacement for us. That’s right they’re moving to 3dmodels now. Deleted my account there and in other marketplaces (Artstation marketplace, Turbosquid, etc), only places they won’t use AI for now is Flipped Normals as they are artists themselves and Cults3d.
If AI won’t be properly legislated you can say goodbye to 3d art a few years down the line, they are already talking about replacing vfx artists, using deep fake technology for extras and I hear 2d concept artists, teacher and even programmers getting replaced, some have already been fired. Please share this or tell more people about this, our future is at stake!

Super stoked to be working with another evil genius is in his own right Motel Surgeon. After centuries of life and minor set backs the audio visual environment is in the final stages of tweaking light samples and textures.. Not showing you anything new other than the motel surgeon sign(a very poetic and themed logo) , in case yall ever wanna stop by for a labatomy or sum. Proud to present the first environment, solely built by me, tuned, gonna be drop of a lifetime, music not miss, visual not to miss, follow both the Gawds, and stand up for what you believe in!

Haven't done a FirstTryFreestyleFridays in a hot minute. Was super inspired by the beat from Clozee & Scarfinger, so I rearranged it a whole lot and chopped it with the steeze, and went scuba diving in the flow 🌊🦈💎❄️
Hopefully everyone is using their quarantine minutes in a productive manner :D
