I LOVE being patient and waiting until the sky turns purple right after the sun sets. It usually happens about 10 to 20 minutes into twilight, when the remaining red light from the horizon mixes with the fading blue of the evening sky. ✨💜✨

Seven thousand years ago, long before the pyramids of Egypt rose from the sand, a small community was laying their loved ones to rest in a quiet Florida pond. 🌿 We know this because in 1982, a backhoe operator digging near Titusville uncovered something no one expected: rows of ancient human remains preserved in the black peat of what we now call the Windover Bog.

What makes Windover almost unbelievable is what the oxygen free muck protected. Archaeologists recovered delicately woven fabric thousands of years older than any known loom work in North America, along with bottle gourds, tools, and the bodies of people carefully wrapped and staked below the water's surface. In dozens of skulls, researchers even found preserved brain tissue, giving us a rare window into lives lived here in the deep past. 🧠

These were not simple wanderers. They cared for their sick and elderly, buried their children with tenderness, and returned to the same sacred pond for generations. Standing on that ordinary patch of Brevard County ground today, it is humbling to think of the ancient hands that once gathered there, grieving and hoping just as we do. It is one of the oldest and most important burial sites ever found on the continent, and it happened right here in Florida. 💧

Sometimes the most extraordinary history is hiding in the most ordinary places, waiting quietly beneath the water.

"My daughter and I came to stay while we had a girls weekend and went on a Night Kayaking tour. We watch alot of "Gilmore Girls" and wanted a Bed and Breakfast experience. This place is AMAZING. We slept so well and really enjoyed our TIME TOGETHER. This home is a HAPPY place full of LOVE and Character. It's our kind of place. We loved it and will tell every one."
