This felt like a scene from an old film.

The kind where the world slows down for a moment.

A quiet library.
Dusty pages.
Soft light spilling between the shelves.

And two people discovering that the best stories aren’t always the ones written in books…
but the ones being written together.

The laughter between chapters.
The small glances that say more than words.
The way being close to the right person makes the whole room feel warmer.

Those are the moments I look for.

Not perfection.
Not poses.

Just the feeling of being inside a story that’s only just beginning.

It has been a while since I have posted here! BUT, the time has finally come and I have finally opened my schedule here in the usa for the next few weeks!

Over the last few years I have been thankful for the interest and requests for my work here in the states and now I am finally able to say that your time has come KANSAS CITY AND BLACK HILLS FRIENDS!

SOOOOO…

I will be in Kansas CIty, MO from today until April 14th and in South Dakota (BH area) from 16th to the 22nd.

I am taking bookings for family shoots and couples shoots!

{ AND THEN THERE WAS FIVE }

And just like that the fifth comes to make something even more complete; family. You never know that you were missing something in your family until a new member arrives. And just like that “where have you been all my life my love?”

Something that is becoming more and more special for me is to photograph families; especially new parents. I think it’s the phase of life I have just entered into— being a dad! This changes things!!

It’s the fresh feeling of knowing how special it is to have children. I can feel the sleepless nights and a deep affection and love for the child that would do anything for him all at the same time. I can feel the sacrifices necessary to parent and the authentic joy that gives all you have to raise a little one.

I think it’s these emotions that have given me a new touch in my photography. The ability to feel deeper. The ability to Reach into the depths of mature emotion and understand the dynamics of that which I’m photographing!

It’s not just enough to take photos— it must be something you feel. It be must enter the life of other and pull out the beauty of the season. This is what makes sense to me!

More than just a photographer! These days are still really new for me to claim the renowned title of “dad”— and I’m wearing it like a badge of honor! What a time it’s been!

Along my life I’ve lived a lot of experiences and I’m grateful for how they have shaped me into who I am today. From the rodeo scene in rural America to the safaris of Africa to the Amazon of Brasil. It’s been far from typical! It’s been these experiences that have formed and shaped the way in which I view life.

The life that’s lived to the fullest with those you love!

Gente, eu sou Lathan! And it’s a pleasure to have you guys around here! 😃 I’m hoping that through my lens of life you’ll find a little more inspiration to live your life and journey to its fullest!
