This is to pay homage to my Dad.

I was on a family RV trip a short time after he passed away. We were up in the Twin Cities area. When a milky white squirrel ran across the road. Unlike most squirrels who don’t commit and scurry back and forth until they become a meat pancake. This particular squirrel ran across the road, jumped on the curb, sat on its haunches and watched us drive by. The comment was made that his hair color loo

ked just like my Dad’s. Once we got to our campsite, I looked up the type of squirrel and they do not inhabit the region we were in. So white squirrels have become a happy reminder of my Dad. Here’s to you Dad. I miss you, but am at peace knowing you are watching over all of us.

The next National STOL Series event is ARKLAHOMA STOL in Pocola, OK, May 24-25! This is shaping up to be a major event on the calendar, and our local hosts want to make it incredibly special for not just the pilots, but their entire families and the local community.
This is going to be a GREAT event to bring the partners/kids/whole families to. We are planning a special area and a few fun surprises for the partners and activities for the kids during practice on Friday. We are also doing our first official THEME NIGHT for awards on Saturday, thanks to the inspiration of Glenn Roberts and Robin Whalen at Heritage--Get ready for CASINO ROYALE night at the Choctaw Casino for dinner and awards!
Finally, due to popular demand, we will be doing a social media/media training on Thursday late afternoon for those of you that are able to come in early. If you want tips and tricks for setting up your social media accounts or working on your interview skills, plan to arrive by about 4pm on Thursday and join us.

Im sitting here at First Watch cafe in Bellevue. I’m supposed to be in Wayne, KLCG, for the fly-in breakfast.

I will start with saying I’m OK, a bit frazzled.
The champ N512PG is ok.

I had an engine out, off-field landing this morning. Landed about 500’ short of Rwy 34 at Plattsmouth, KPMV.

I will post more details and lessons learned once I finish my reports with the FAA. NTSB said no report will be filed since no damage to aircraft or pilot.

I will leave you with this for now…
Please ensure you work power-off landings into your regular flying days. David Ott during my tail wheel training, had us do power-off 180s for almost every landing.

When it happened for real, I was able to remain calm-ish and Fly the dang plane.
