Two sandstone walls. One perfect frame.
Monument Valley has been doing this since long before anyone showed up with a camera - carving corridors that funnel your eye straight to the heart of the desert. East Mitten Butte rising dead center in the distance. Red dirt at your feet.
Some places just know what they're doing.

Watched The Searchers last night. Couldn't help it - had to post this. Through the doorway of an old Navajo hogan in Mustang Canyon, Monument Valley appears exactly as John Ford imagined it. Some places were built for legends - and they never let you forget it. 🏜️

A snapshot from my 2022 journey to Monument Valley. Returning here after two years away felt like a true trip to the past. The desert didn't just welcome me back; it greeted me with this unforgettable sunset that I’ll cherish forever.

I keep coming back to this photo.
Breakfast with the view at The View , Monument Valley. Bagels, coffee, the Mittens at dawn. The kind of morning you don't forget — and can't stop missing.
Last time I visited, I waited too long — not a room left.
If you're planning a trip to Monument Valley: reserve at least 3 months ahead. Don't make my mistake.

Full moon over Monument Valley. The moon was bright enough to light the entire valley — no flashlight needed. And right there in the middle, East Mitten Butte perfectly framed between the monuments on both sides. One of those nights you don't forget. 🌕

Some mornings Monument Valley reminds you how small you are. Merrick Butte, the valley's most massive formation, silent in the shadows while the whole sky burns behind it. 🌅

There's the Monument Valley everyone sees. And then there's the one you feel. 🦅

The valley is vast - far bigger than most people realize. The famous 17-mile loop is just the beginning. The real Monument Valley stretches across hundreds of square miles of Navajo Nation, and most of it? You'll never reach it without a guide.

Here's what's waiting beyond the loop:

1. Hunts Mesa (slides 1 & 6)

Perhaps the greatest hidden gem in all of Monument Valley. The highest accessible point in the valley - a 270° panorama of every butte you've ever seen in a Western film, all at once.

2. Mustang Canyon (slides 2 & 4)

Home of the Teardrop Arch - a sandstone window framing the full sweep of Monument Valley. From the canyon's heights, the entire valley floor stretches out below you.

4. Mystery Valley (slides 3 & 5)

The name says it all. Expansive, panoramic views of the buttes you know - seen from a peaceful, crowd-free vantage point the main loop can never offer.

Exploring with a Navajo guide isn't just about access. It's about hearing the stories from the people who know this land best. It changes the entire experience.

Planning a trip to Monument Valley? Save this post for later. And tell me - which of these three would you visit first: 1, 2, or 3? 👇

You've seen this view before. Everyone has.
And yet — here you are, stopping to look at it again.
That's Forrest Gump Hill. US-163 straight into Monument Valley. Some views never get old, no matter how many times the world has photographed them.
This shot is available as a wallpaper in my store — link in the first comment.
