Christmas minis are officially coming to Madisonville! 📸🤍

I’ll be offering both 15-minute and 30-minute sessions throughout the day with a modern, elegant Christmas setup featuring neutral tones, greenery, and simple holiday details — perfect for families, couples, kids, and Christmas card photos.

And yes, I picked a Sunday on purpose 😂 Since it’s a church day, a lot of y’all are already going to be dressed up anyway, so you might as well come get some Christmas pictures while everyone is looking nice!

🎄✨ Christmas Mini Session Interest Check! ✨🎄

I’m planning a modern, elegant Christmas setup this November with a neutral white, champagne, and greenery look — perfect for Christmas cards, updated family photos, or just capturing some sweet holiday memories. 🤍📸

Sessions would be 30 minutes each, with the date and location still TBD based on interest and availability.

Pricing would be $50 per session, with a pay-what-you-can option available as well. I know the holidays can get expensive, and I’d love to make Christmas photos accessible for families who may not normally be able to book a session. ❤️

Some of y’all may already know me and know that I photograph weddings, but I wanted to share a little information for anyone who may be newly engaged or starting to plan their wedding! 💍📸

One of the biggest things I like to explain to couples is that you do not automatically need 10–12 hours of photography coverage just because it’s your wedding day.

For most weddings, I usually recommend starting coverage about an hour and a half before the ceremony. That gives us time for getting-ready photos, dress and detail shots, rings, invitations, final touches, and those sweet moments before everything gets started.

Then I typically allow about an hour and a half for the ceremony plus family, wedding party, and couple portraits afterward.

From there, the rest of the coverage is usually focused on the reception — entrances, first dances, speeches, cake cutting, special dances, candid moments, and of course some dancing!

Once all of those important reception moments are finished, the photos can start getting pretty repetitive. There are only so many different photos of people dancing before the gallery starts looking very similar. 😂 Because of that, most couples really don’t need their photographer there until the absolute end of the night.

One thing I recommend a lot is doing a staged exit while I’m still there. You still get all of those beautiful sparkler, bubble, glow-stick, or send-off photos without having to pay for several additional hours of coverage just waiting for the actual reception to end.

My goal is never to convince you that you need the longest package possible. I’d much rather help you choose the amount of coverage that actually makes sense for your wedding day and the moments that are most important to you. 🤍

The Double Decker Carousel

Bathed in hundreds of glowing lights, the Double Decker Carousel serves as the centerpiece of Galveston Island Historic Pleasure Pier. While inspired by the timeless elegance of classic carousels, this attraction is a modern installation that opened with the pier in 2012, bringing a touch of nostalgia to Galveston's waterfront.

Carousels have long been symbols of family entertainment, delighting generations with beautifully crafted horses, ornate details, and the simple joy of a ride accompanied by music and lights. The Pleasure Pier's two-level design offers riders sweeping views of the Gulf of Mexico while celebrating a tradition that has been part of amusement parks for well over a century.

Standing nearly at the center of the pier, the carousel is often one of the first attractions to catch visitors' attention after sunset. Its warm lights create a striking contrast against the night sky, making it one of the most photographed features of the pier and a reminder that Galveston continues its long tradition as a destination for recreation, family fun, and coastal memories.

James Morris Walthew (1817–1881)

This monument honors James Morris Walthew, who was born in Liverpool, England, on October 16, 1817, before making Galveston his home during the city's rise as one of the nation's busiest ports.

As a member of the prominent Walthew family, James helped establish a lasting maritime legacy on the Texas coast. The family's firm, Walthew & Sons, became one of Galveston's leading steamship and shipping agencies, connecting the island to Liverpool and ports around the world while playing an important role in the export of Texas cotton and the growth of international trade.

James was also known for his appreciation of history. A supporter of the Historical Society of Galveston, he donated a rare eighteenth-century history of Liverpool, preserving a piece of his English heritage for future generations.

Although time has weathered much of the inscription on his monument, James Morris Walthew's legacy remains intertwined with Galveston's maritime past. His story reflects that of countless immigrants whose vision, enterprise, and determination helped transform the Island City into one of the Gulf Coast's most important commercial centers.

The Willis Family Mausoleum

Standing among the towering palms of Galveston's historic Broadway Cemetery District, the Willis Family Mausoleum is one of the island's most iconic examples of Gothic Revival funerary architecture. With its pointed arches, steep slate roof, ornate pinnacles, and towering spire crowned by a Celtic cross, the mausoleum reflects the wealth, influence, and faith of one of Galveston's most prominent families.

The Willis family helped shape the commercial and civic development of early Texas. Peter James Willis, founder of the mercantile firm P. J. Willis & Brother, built one of the largest wholesale businesses west of the Mississippi River during the mid-19th century. The family's influence extended well beyond commerce—Peter Willis was the uncle of Narcissa Willis, who later commissioned the famed Willis-Moody Mansion, and the Texas town of Willis in Montgomery County was named in honor of Peter and his brother, Richard Willis.

Designed in the Gothic Revival style, the mausoleum was intended to evoke the appearance of a small church, emphasizing resurrection, eternal life, and the enduring strength of faith. Every pointed arch, carved finial, and soaring spire draws the eye upward, reinforcing the Victorian belief that death marked the beginning of eternal life rather than its end.

More than a century after its construction, the Willis Family Mausoleum remains one of the most photographed and admired structures within the cemetery. It stands not only as the final resting place of a family that helped shape Galveston's history, but also as an enduring symbol of the craftsmanship, artistry, and architectural beauty that define the Broadway Cemetery District.
