And around here, “Can they just run?” is always a yes.

Let them get a little windblown. Chase each other through the grass. Fall into your lap laughing and tell me a story that takes three detours before we get to the ending.

We’ll play, we’ll wander, and somewhere along the way you’ll forget we are shooting. You’ll be telling me things like we’re old friends, and I’ll still be taking pictures.

Kids being kids. You being their favorite place to land. Everybody free to be themselves.

That’s my kind of family session. 🫶

To the woman wondering if she should keep going…

That dream on your heart deserves a chance, even if it’s taking longer than you hoped. Even if you’re watching other women do the very thing you’re still trying to find the courage to begin.

There’s room for you, too.

You can be grateful for the life you have and still dream about what’s ahead. You can love being a mama and want to create something of your own. You can start small, ask for help, and learn as you go.

God has a plan for your life. You don’t have to have every step figured out to take the next one.

Someday, you may look around at a life you love and feel awfully thankful you kept going.

Don’t stop, friend. Don’t ever quit dreaming. 🤍

I hope you buy the candle.

And I hope when someone asks where you found it, you get to say, “Oh, let me tell you about the women who make these.”

That’s one of my favorite things about photographing small businesses. Getting to know the people behind something you might bring home and love.

Scena House Candles is the work of two women who care deeply about what they’re creating. Having one of them in front of my camera, making room for her to be part of the story, was such a joy.

Because the candle is beautiful. And knowing a little about who’s behind it makes me love it even more. Stop in Pretty Little Parties , say hi to Samantha, grab a couple of her fall scents ...you wont be disappointed.

Apparently, my kind of therapy involves a camera, a room full of candles, and calling it a workday. 🤎

I loved shooting this branding session for Scena . If you need a new fall candle the maple orchard is my favorite, my house smells divine.

Today’s MBP to-do list:

☐ Make coffee.
☐ Set it somewhere mysterious.
☐ Edit the photos.
☐ Get distracted by how much the kids have grown since last year.
☐ Buy a pumpkin from a local business. For the economy.
☐ Smooth a mama’s hair and tell her she looks beautiful.
☐ Squat for the shot. Consider that my workout.
☐ Make dinner using ingredients I forgot to thaw.
☐ Find the coffee.

Move “fold laundry” to tomorrow. She’s used to it. 🤎
