Some topdown shot of one of the christmas markets in Basel. This one is the biggest and is located at Barfüsserplatz and around Barfüsserkirche/Historisches Museum. Unfortunately this year will be the last time you’re able to capture drone shots like these. The regulatory framework for unmanned aircrafts (drones) already in effect in the EU will come into force in Switzerland on 1 January 2023. After that you‘re not allowed to fly over gatherings of people even if you‘re drone is below 500g (or even below 250g). It really is a pitty that Switzerland decided like this since there was no bad accident or dangerous situation between drones and people recorded in the past years in Switzerland. But you could fly over gatherings of people with a 29 kg heavy model aircraft by the way - it‘s always a question of the political lobby and not safety…
