Although it's been longer than a year, I love to share this post by Julie Setele

This class is being offered again this Thursday Book Arts you'll learn:
- rubber stamp carving
- copy transfer
- stencil making
- acrylic lift (this wasn't offered in their session)

Exactly one year ago, I took a class taught by Laura Chenault . She taught how to make stencils, an acetone copy transfer method, and stamp-carving (linocut)! That day, I made this zine, featuring those three methods.

After class, I got some cheap linocut tools for $15 and bought the local dollar store’s complete supply of Pink Pearl erasers. I love how accessible this craft is!

(Shout out, as well, to Serena Rios McRae | Tucson Art and Serena Rios McRae for all the videos I learned from!)

I have now carved over 234 stamps (mostly tracing other people’s art and always giving credit where it’s due). I recently started a drawing class and I’m excited about expanding my repertoire and carving more original work. Yay linocut!!

Image 2: star stamp by me; main image is copy transfer
Image 3: heart stencil by me; acorns, etc. are copy transfer
Image 4: stamps from Laura’s stash, plus copy transfers
Image 5: initials stamp by me (this was my first stamp!)
