$27.40 - Can you spend that easily today?
I know I can - Target got my money yesterday 😂 But I saw a meme on IG this weekend that pointed out that $27.40 equals $10,000 A YEAR in spending.
You could easily find guilt in that reality, BUT what if you actually set up an auto transfer for that amount (or $191.80 weekly) right into a savings account? You never see it and watch - you have 10,000 freaking dollars in 365 days?!
I haven’t worked myself up to that much yet, but automatic transfers are a game changer because it doesn’t require any action after you initially set it up. You learn to live without that money very quickly!
And if this entire conversation makes you squirm, ask yourself why. I’m tired of money being taboo to discuss - just know I am open to hard questions and the realities of saving, surviving, and building wealth if you have them, because knowledge really is power. And being a small business owner/photographer has only made all of this more important to understand, practice, and learn from!

When looking through photographers' galleries, you have to remember that your brand's secret sauce is YOU.
It’s ok if you’re not as smiley as the people featured. Maybe you dress differently, or you love bright colors. Your session is meant to be uniquely about you, so instead look for this:

1 | Did they capture stories the way you would like yours to be captured? (Documentary style or more posed, maybe a combo?)
2 | Are the images consistent in editing style and in focus?
3 | Do you like their way of composing images in various shooting situations?
4 | Would you mesh well personality wise? You’ll enjoy the process a whole lot more if you like them as a person. And plus, if you plan on photos every few months, you’ll be spending a lot of time together.

Have you ever caught yourself hiding from your true potential?

That’s me behind the balloons. You can’t see it, but I was smiling ear to ear that day - styling products and imagining what I would shoot with the same props, being creative with some of the most creative and humble people I will ever know.

That day taught me that I had the power to make my life and my career anything I wanted it to be, if I was willing to work at it consistently and be patient.

What are you willing to claim right now as a dream for 2020? Yes, right now. Leaving a comment might be terrifying, but writing a goal down to get it out to your head just might start some fireworks đŸ’„ Share your dreams, friends!!

What sets me apart? As a small business owner, I’m very conscious of keeping my client list small enough to manage with full attention. That translates into not taking every available job for the quick cash, but really uncovering whether we will work well together as humans before any contracts are signed. It’s important to me that we make a great partnership and YOUR needs come first—after all, you’re who I do this for!
