Warm Sunsets and palm trees are a big reason I’ve chosen to live in Southern California . San Francisco also has the prettiest sunsets , but I was always freezing waiting for them !

California coasts are always bringing new adventure to me . On this particular day I found an amazing sea cave to set up my tripod , and even met an amazing friend . Thank goodness I did because he was a surfer , and though I had checked for high tide he knew it was coming in much earlier than expected . He got me out of there right in time and I still managed to get slammed by a wave and drop my camera under water . Somehow my survived it all and I left with this beautiful image , a skinned knee , and a broken shoe meaning I had to hobble home barefoot down hollywood Blvd . I scrubbed my feet harder than I ever have that day but in the end it was worth it !

The Jacaranda weep with the collective grief in these Hollywood streets . Their purple petals line the empty streets reminding us of the beauty in this world amidst the chaos that has been 2020 . Though recently more of a ghost town , than the bustling community you may have visited in the past , this weeks protests brought a charged and inspiring energy back to Hollywood . Though it was also mixed with a level of fear and control , as buildings everywhere were frantically being boarded up , police helicopters and sirens stayed constant for a few days , and nightly curfews crept in earlier and earlier , the end result was mostly peaceful and full of so much love . To those who bravely went out to the streets , thank you for your voice πŸ’œ

Last fall I went on a long solo road trip . It was so awesome catching up with old friends along the way and exploring parts of the country I hadn’t set foot in before . Pictured here are the amazon spheres on Seattle . I walked right in , very excited, thinking it was a giant greenhouse and was quickly chased by security πŸ˜‚ Ive been known to trespass a little but this time it was truly unintentional .

Happy Earth Day ! I am spending this day potting some new plants , breathing in some sunshine and focusing on the gratitude I have , that I spent much of my last year traveling and exploring Mother Earth .
We may be unable to do that in a big way right now but I encourage you to focus on what that means for the planet and not just yourself ! Our planet is vibrating high right now and allowing it the space to do so is so important ! I challenge you to think of a way to honor earth today that doesn’t include the self gratification of taking from her .
Here are some ways you can do this !

1. Plant a tree or houseplant if you live in the city
2. Meditate for our planet
3. Sing a song in nature
4. Hug a tree
5. Stop buying plastic water bottles !

I love this crazy place they call LaLa Land . I can’t think of anywhere I’d rather be quarantined ..... well , maybe Hawaii , but city wise this place has everything I desire . Right now the streets are lined with flowers and the palm trees stand tall. My heart stays open , my expectation small .
Day by day we grow and what I am seeing as far as compassion and togetherness in this city is beautiful . I hope we can all remember this time for its love as well as its fear πŸ’›
