From my family to yours...love, just LOVE out to all of you this holiday season. Because love is everything. Merry and happy and joy (although awesome) don't work for so many of us this year. So I'm grateful for love in all of its forms... From a pet, from a spouse, from a child, from a neighbor, from a stranger. From the universe. 💖

PS- I finally got a remote control for my camera. Yes, I know, I'm not into gadgets and upgrades. I still have a Google Pixel 1. I usually do self-portraits by running as fast as I can to get in front of the camera. This was actually my first attempt at using one. And I seriously have no idea what to do with my hands. Hi remote. 😂

If all Thanksgiving ever is, is an extra day to stop for a minute and express gratitude, then that is truly enough. It is more than enough, it is a privilege. Grateful for these two beyond words. 💖

When I post, Instagram tends to be the place these days (sorry!), but I'll try and keep up here since I know many of you are not on Insta. I work with a few small schools to do modern school photography because most school photos are garbage, and all families deserve to have affordable, professional, ADORABLE photos of their kids each year. For many families, school photos are the only chance they get to do this.

Since schools are all virtual now, I'm creating a back to "school" portrait pop up! Dates and details will be announced soon, but my current clients and wait list get first dibs. Send me a message if you want to get on the waitlist. These will all be quick, outdoors in NELA. XOXO

I'm missing all my photo families, but getting inquiries again for sessions has me both scared and excited to figure things out in our hopefully temporary, brave new world. Our kids keep getting older, birthdays keep happening, babies are born, life is still being celebrated, and I think folks are realizing now, more than ever, how precious these moments are. XO

Do we all feel like this right now? I have to admit, I don't mind being forced to slow down. I wish it wasn't due to my own health battles or viscious worldwide pandemics of course, but I'm definitely a hermit at heart. Happy with a pile of books and some warmish coffee. I'm not clambering to re-start "normal" life anytime soon. In fact, it gives me super anxiety and I'm trying to reallly suss out why. I'm landing on something having to do with expectations. Perceived and otherwise. Mainly my own unrealistic expectations. So, slowing down is good.

By nature, we take things for granted. Dropping the kids off at school, thrice weekly grocery store trips, freshly waxed legs and not going up 18 flights of stairs to my doctor's office while wearing a mask (could.not.breathe). I sincerely hope that it's not business as usual once we all resume this new normal. I hope things are better. I hope they are more meaningful. I hope we all find so much more, in so much less.

PS - this cutest baby girl ever was captured during my last day in the life session prior to surgery and covid. She really was the most mellow baby, but when she cried, she did it with admirable gusto.

This has to be one of my favorites from this celebration session. I'm working on a better name for this type of session, but can't quite pinpoint it. It's a little bit bo***ir, a little bit portrait, a little bit fine art, a lot self empowerment. What do you think? See my post yesterday for more background.

We knew this shoot had to be outside, in nature. It was essential, as you'll see in more of the photos as I share. It's winter in LA, but it's still cold, and toward the end of this shoot, we were both ready for a fireplace. And nope, she's not a professional model, her hair just naturally sort of fell that way. We didn't mess with it at all!

I did something a bit different, but super amazing and fulfilling. An inspiring friend hired me to celebrate. Yes, just to celebrate. Not "just" to celebrate, but to revel in the deliciousness of her life right at this moment. This is not an ordinary female business owner, single mom over 40 - this is an enlightened being on earth, this woman knows deeply the value of self love in it's truest and ironically most selfless form. She knows that if you can't be in service to yourself, then you can't be in service to those you love, so love yourself big. To be trusted completely to artistically celebrate this beautiful woman has been such an honor for me, and I've been thrilled to have been quietly contacted by more women who want to celebrate. I asked her why she wanted to take these photos, "who are they for?" She educated me with a, "why not? They are for ME." This photo is from that session, and I can't wait to show you more.

What does your family portrait actually say about your family? Are you connected, quirky, playful, weird, hilarious, goofy, or super serious? And, is just one image enough to capture your family dynamic?

With my Day in the Life sessions, I'm able to capture the essence of your family with pure documentary images like this one, in addition to more casually posed, traditional portraits (to make the grandparents happy). Plus, there are so many details in-between to fill your heirloom photo book.

How do you want to remember your family in time, right now?
