I love capturing videos whenever I can. I made this quick abstract reel with some clips in Manhattan while waiting in heavy traffic near the Lincoln Tunnel. 😊

🎵 A Tribute to Freddie Aguilar | The Garden of Samar (Filmed at Elizabeth Street Garden, NYC)

I dedicate this video to the legendary Filipino singer Freddie Aguilar, who sadly passed away on May 27, 2025. His music shaped my life and the lives of millions, and The Garden of Samar is one of his many masterpieces that continues to echo in our hearts.

This video I was filmed at Elizabeth Street Garden in SoHo, New York City—a hidden, nostalgic gem filled with peace and character. I had stepped in with a coffee during a short break and found myself completely taken by its serene charm. It’s a place where people read, take photos, talk, and just be. The garden may be small, but its spirit is timeless.

Freddie Aguilar’s music has always been deeply personal to me. Songs like Anak (Child), Goddess, About Father, and The Garden of Samar hold special meaning. About Father was once my favorite, but after I lost my parents, I found it too emotional to listen to—it brings tears almost instantly. Still, the depth of that song, and all of Freddie’s music, remains etched in my heart.

It’s heartbreaking that Elizabeth Street Garden now faces demolition due to a proposed affordable housing project. Despite its cultural and historical importance, the city plans to replace it with residential buildings. The garden’s potential destruction has sparked strong opposition from the community and well-known figures such as Robert De Niro, Martin Scorsese, and Patti Smith, all advocating for its preservation. Many believe alternative sites exist that wouldn’t sacrifice this one-of-a-kind space.

📍 Let this video be both a tribute to Freddie Aguilar and a reminder of the quiet beauty we often overlook.

If this song or this garden means something to you, feel free to share your thoughts in the comments. Let’s keep the memory of both alive.

🕊️ Rest in peace, Freddie. Your voice lives on.

The song “What I Have to Offer” by Eels is a quiet, introspective track from their 2010 album End Times.

“What I Have to Offer” is a bittersweet confession of a man acknowledging that he may not have much in terms of material wealth or perfection — but what he does offer is something deeply human: honesty, emotional presence, and genuine love.

It’s a song for anyone who has ever felt they weren’t “enough” by society’s standards but still has love to give.

Eels isn’t a band in the traditional sense — it’s essentially the musical project of one man: Mark Oliver Everett, who goes by the name E.

The video I shot at Jones Beach, Long Island, NewYork.

This track has a mellow, introspective, and sun-drenched mood, making it a favorite for background listening or relaxation.
To match this beautiful tune, I filmed scenes across Queens (New York), Connecticut, Maryland, and Virginia.
I hope you enjoy it!

Today, I saw something quietly beautiful—two different places, two different generations. The young ones were busy working, building their lives, full of energy and purpose. The older ones, now retired, were taking things slow, simply enjoying their time. Just a few small conversations with them I could tell—they were all happy in their own way.

It reminded me how life should be. We only get one chance at this, so why not try to be happy? For the young, keep pushing forward with hope. And for the older ones—forget your age. You’ve earned the peace. Laugh more, savor every moment. Life doesn’t stop with age—it shifts, it deepens.

Happiness isn’t tied to age or pace—it’s in the way we choose to live each day.

Photography and videography have always been my hobbies — they help me forget that I’m getting older! Over the years, I’ve occasionally uploaded a few videos on Facebook. One day, Aziz Haque (Ontoo), a multi-talented guy living in Australia, suggested that I should upload videos more seriously on YouTube.

A few years ago, I had also sent a short video of a wedding reception to Milu Aman, and he really appreciated it. Milu Aman is another incredibly talented person, especially when it comes to music. I’ve never met anyone so serious and dedicated as a listener. Now, he’s also writing about music and has already published a couple of books.

When I was a schoolboy, I used to walk slowly past Green Supermarket just to get a glimpse of the music recording center called “Cats Eye.” My brother (who now lives in England) and I used to record songs there. Later, “Rainbow” recording center opened on Elephant Road — a place full of nostalgia that no one who experienced it will ever forget, especially because of the warmth of Murad Bhai and Kabir Bhai. Then came “Rhythm” and “Soor Bichitra.”

At that time, whenever I felt low, music was the only thing that lifted me up. That’s why I’ve decided to start uploading my own videos with beautiful music — covering every genre!

One thing though: I don’t like to be in my own videos! If anyone wants to be featured — solo or with a partner — you’re always welcome. One thing I can promise: if you join me during shooting, you’ll definitely enjoy the places and the food!

From this month until next year July 2026, I’ll be quite busy, but whenever I get time, I’ll make a few videos here and there. After July next year, I’m planning to come back with a brand-new setup and will be uploading all kinds of music videos: heavy metal, hard rock, soft rock, blues, jazz, easy listening , reggae, classical, techno, instrumental — even international songs, as long as the tune and lyrics are good!

Stay in touch with Sami's Musica — lots of exciting things ahead!
