WHO IS THE DENR REALLY PROTECTING?

A furniture shop owner in Roxas, Palawan was reportedly arrested over ipil and mahogany wood, which he said were only brought to the shop for repair.

But hereโ€™s the question:

Where is the same strict enforcement when large-scale mining destroys forests, mountains, and rivers in Palawan?

Small people get caught.
Big operations keep going.

If the DENR is truly here to protect the environment, then the law must be the same for everyone.

Donโ€™t make small businesses your easy target while the powerful get a free pass.

Protect the Philippines forests. And enforce the law, not selectively, but equally.

Because protecting the environment should never mean protecting the powerful. ๐ŸŒณ

WILDFIRES RAVAGE INDONESIA, CLAIMING THE LIVES OF WILDLIFE

They couldnโ€™t run fast enough.
They couldnโ€™t find a safe place to hide.
They had nowhere to go.

As flames swallowed their forest home, countless animals were left fighting for survival, until the fire took everything from them.

They never caused the fire. They simply lived where the flames came.

We can put out a fire.
But we cannot bring back the lives it has already taken.

How many more lives must be lost before we finally take the climate crisis seriously? ๐ŸŒ๐Ÿ”ฅ

โ€œTHIS IS NOT MY SON!โ€ ๐Ÿ’”

She refused to accept the ashes.

Not because she could not grieve but because there was no body to bury.

Four members of the Magar family remained missing after the devastating flash floods. With no bodies recovered, effigies made of Kush grass stood in their place during the symbolic cremation.

As the ceremony began, a mother cried:

โ€œWhy are you all accepting that he is gone? My son is still alive. You just didnโ€™t search for him!โ€

Imagine saying goodbye to someone you cannot even prove is gone.

No final embrace.
No last look.
No body to hold.

Just ashes for someone a mother still believes is waiting to be found.

Some families lose loved ones to disasters.
Others lose them to the silence that comes after.

โ€œMAGPA-2ND FLOOR PARA HINDI ABUTIN NG BAHA.โ€

โ€œMAGPA-2ND FLOOR KAYO.โ€

WALA SILANG PERA.โ€

Tapos:

โ€œMAY PERA NA RIN ANG MGA โ€™YAN.โ€

MAY PERA?

BAKIT SILA BINABAHA?

MAGPAKITA NG SOLUSYON.

Indonesia burns.
Nepal floods.
The Philippines braces for stronger storms.
Malaysia breathes polluted air.

We call them natural disasters. But when a warming planet makes these disasters more frequent, more violent, and more deadly, we have to ask:

Who is responsible?

Climate change is not an unavoidable fate. It is fueled by human choices and the people, industries, and governments with the greatest power to change course must carry the greatest responsibility.

Because behind every statistic is a family.
Behind every disaster is a community.
And behind every climate warning is a future we are still capable of saving.

๐ŸŒฟ Climate action is not charity.
It is justice.
It is accountability.
It is survival.

We did not inherit a dying planet. We inherited the responsibility to protect it. โœŠ๐Ÿฝ๐ŸŒ

โ€œFirst time pong bahain ang aming lugar.โ€

Kaya oo, tulungan natin sila.

AT FIRST GLANCE, YOUโ€™D THINK A FATHER WAS CARRYING HIS CHILD.

But look again.

This was a 61-year-old son carrying his 85-year-old mother against his chest inside a hospital in Tainan, Taiwan.

In March 2012, Ting Tsu-chi carried his elderly mother in a cloth sling after she fractured her leg. She had heart disease and high blood pressure, and Ting worried that sitting in a wheelchair would cause her pain.

So he carried her himself.

And perhaps the most heartbreaking part?

This was not a one-day act of kindness. It was a lifetime of love returned.

Ting had once turned down a promotion because it would have taken him away from his mother.

In 2007, he retired early so he could take better care of her.

He had already spent his childhood being carried by her; through sickness, fear, hunger, and the countless difficult days a mother quietly endures for her child.

Now, the roles had reversed.

The hands that once held him were now the hands he was holding.

The shoulders that once carried his childhood were now resting against his chest.

And he never treated caring for her as a burden.

Because sometimes, love is not a grand speech.

Sometimes, love is giving up a promotion.

Sometimes, it is giving up a career.

Sometimes, it is simply saying:

โ€œMa, donโ€™t worry. Iโ€™ll carry you.โ€

One day, our parents will grow old.

Their steps will become slower. Their bodies will become weaker. And the people who once carried us effortlessly may someday need us to carry them.

When that day comes, may we remember everything they carried for us first.

Because before we ever learned how to walk, someone carried us.

And if we are lucky enough to still have them,

perhaps the greatest way to say โ€œthank youโ€ is to carry them when they can no longer carry themselves.

Ang hinihingi lang nila ay ang parehong respeto na nararapat sa bawat pasaheroโ€”mayaman man o mahirap, katutubo man o hindi, maayos man ang damit o payak.
