Ladies, we need to talk about Charlotte York and her proposal to herself!

As a proposal planner who has worked with over 3,000 couples from all over the world. I've seen it all.

Rewatching S*x and the City I knew I had to comment on this…

Charlotte wanted to get engaged so badly that she steamrolled the proposal process instead of letting it unfold on its right timeline.

and I get it, every woman has a timeline..rightfully so!

But for our own sake, to make sure our men are truly choosing us, and planning a great proposal for us of their own WILL.

It's so important not to steamroll the process!

Charlotte got no proposal. Just ALRIGHTY, like “ok whatever you say dear”

And we all know how that relationship turned out.

She deserved a great proposal and a GREAT MAN who CHOSE HER. Not Trey McDougal and “Alrighty”

But she got in her own way.

Don't be Charlotte. Let your man propose to you. Trust the process.

One of my favorite places to propose in Central Park? The Conservatory Waters. 💍✨

Jack Antonoff proposed to Margaret Qualley mid fried chicken, greasy fingers and all 🍗💍and they actually framed a photo of the messy table after. I love that.

But here's my honest take. A home proposal can be incredibly intimate and beautiful...AND you need to know your woman before you go down that road. Because greasy fingers and chicken bones isn't most women's idea of romance.

Let's contrast this with a proposal I planned with one of my amazing clients, an NFL player. A private rooftop, candles, roses, live music, champagne, the works. After, I asked where they were celebrating. They said "we're going home for chicken wings and pizza."

And that's everything. Give her the moment she deserves. Then go be yourselves!!!

I have been setting up proposals at Cop Cot, Wagner Cove, and Dene Summerhouse in Central Park for years and every single time, when the fairy lights go on and the candelabras are lit and the rose petals are down, I still get that feeling. Like the whole park just got quieter and more magical all at once.

She proposed on a rainy evening in a candlelit gazebo in Central Park and her girlfriend, now future fiancé, said "YES".

Rain is never the ideal scenario, but when it happens we make the most of it.

A few things I appreciate about rainy evenings: the glimmer of the wet ground how it reflects the city and candlelight so beautifully. I also love the heightened emotional charge rain creates.

If you think of any romantic film there's always rain scene!

And that all said when planning our proposals we always try to find an alternative rain date or time, but sometimes it's just not possible and my client needs to propose that day. So we roll with it!

A little rain can be very romantic!

Damiano from Måneskin proposed to actress Dove Cameron in the most raw, spontaneous, bare-bones way...and I have thoughts.

After 15 years and over 3,000 proposals, here's what I know:

it's not about how extravagant you go or how spontaneous the moment is. It's about showing your partner you truly SEE them.

The best proposal is never just what YOU want to do!

It's about finding the balance btw what feels right in your heart AND what she would love.

My issue here?

Dove is a glamorous woman who wanted to be dressed up for this moment.

Damiano proposed his way, and it was raw and real and from the heart but ultimately I think he could have done something that would have represented both of them.

This is exactly what we work through in a planning session.

What feels true to you. What she's dreaming of.

Finding the balance that makes it perfect for both of you.
