When your mother-in-law crochets a hat for the cat…
you don’t question it. You don’t resist it.

You clear the room, grab the camera, and bring your A-game like this is a full Vogue shoot.

Because at that point, the cat isn’t the subject…
the cat is the moment.

Not styled to trend.
Styled to last.
Color with conviction.
Posture without apology.
A frame that holds authority the longer you look.

Beyond the runway clips.
Past the noise.
Captured exactly as he moves through the world.
This was in Denver, between sessions when presence didn’t need an audience.

Light changes everything. This frame came out of a moment of experimentation watching how a single backlight reshapes posture, expression, and mood when you stop trying to control it too tightly and let it speak. That balance between intention and restraint is something I keep coming back to.

Images like this remind me that learning isn’t about adding more it’s about seeing more clearly.

Captured during a NYC workshop led by and Kash , with the calm, grounded presence of Nana Yoshida .yoshida in front of the lens and also the stylist. Studio used was .

We stepped outside the studio, set one light, and let the city and weather take over. Lauren made it easy, Tony pushed us to see differently, and the whole thing felt more like discovery than instruction. The best learning happens when you’re engaged, curious, and actually enjoying the process.

Lauren, photographed this weekend in NYC at a Tony Northrup photography workshop. One pro light. Real weather. Zero pressure. The best learning happens when you’re experimenting, laughing, and forgetting you’re “supposed” to get it perfect. If this reminds you why you picked up a camera in the first place save it, share it, pass the spark along. Incredible, workshop for any level photographer.

Photography is just freezing a moment you didn’t want to lose and sharing it in hopes it makes someone else feel something too.

Taken on my iPhone while walking to Best Buy because you always forget something at the home studio. No fancy gear. No setup.

NYC doesn’t sleep, it poses. Every window a story, every light a heartbeat.
Here for a photography workshop, already reminded why this city never runs out of frames while sitting on the windowsill getting my camera gear ready. Tomorrow is another bucket list item checked off by shooting with and learning from another world’s best photographer.

Modern headshots aren’t about posing they’re about presence.

Studio lighting matters.
Captured at Peter Hurley’s Headshot Workshop in Denver where subtle expression does the heavy lifting.
