If you’re into music and traveling through the Hudson Valley, there’s one stop you can’t miss: Spike’s Record Rack in the village of Catskill.

📍 Spike's Record Rack — Catskill, NY

We met Spike Friggin, who’s been around music basically his entire life working at a record store at 12, playing his first gig at 14, and eventually opening a record shop of his own.

Running a record store in a small town comes with its challenges, but it also means records stick around a little longer and you never really know what you’re going to find. Spike also makes sure nothing hits the shelves below a certain quality grade.

And yes, you might even find a record Spike made himself back in 1988.

Spike uses Gusto to handle payroll and some of the complicated stuff that comes with having employees, so he can focus on the records.

When road tripping through the Hudson Valley, you have to stop in Tivoli and if you’re staying the night, it doesn’t get much more charming than Hotel Tivoli.

📍 Hotel Tivoli & The Corner — 53 Broadway, Tivoli, NY 12583

We met April, the general manager, who showed us around the hotel’s 11 guest rooms, farm-to-table restaurant, and incredible art collection which basically makes the hotel a tiny museum in the middle of town.

Hotel Tivoli also uses Gusto to help streamline onboarding and make things easier for their team.

As for Tivoli itself… I’m smitten. This might be one of the cutest towns I’ve ever seen.

And just when I thought it couldn’t get more magical, we found a little fawn laying in a field of flowers.

If you’re spending any time in the Hudson Valley, put Nines in Germantown on your list.

We met up with one of the owners, Avery, to learn a little more about the restaurant and what makes this place so special.

The menu pulls from the French and Italian Riviera lots of fresh seafood, coastal dishes, and ingredients coming from the incredible agriculture surrounding them in the Hudson Valley.

Nines also uses Gusto to make things like payroll and onboarding easier for their team, especially when running a seasonal business.

And take it from a guy who eats a lot of food at a lot of different places: everything I ate here was outstanding.

48 hours in the Hudson Valley 🚗🌲🍎

One of the easiest escapes from NYC and somehow in under two hours you can go from city slicking to berry picking.

But the best part of the trip was slowing down and meeting some of the people and small businesses that make this part of New York so special.
