What have you been up to?

In January my bestie and I took my son to Spain to continue my IVF journey. While I was there I had some portraits done of my bub and I. But Sarah also suggested we take a new headshot and all I can say is the Postpartum hair was Postpartuming hahaha. But I look beautiful!!! SWIPE TO SEE SOME MORE FROM THE SESSION!

Since today is National IVF Day I thought I would share our IVF baby. After 4.5 long years he is perfect! This journey is not for the faint of heart but we had a beautiful light at the end of a very long and dark tunnel.

The last portrait shows all the needles I used over the year and a half of egg retrievals, PRPs and then a stem cell PRP before we even got to the transfer of this little guy!

Everyone always asked me why I started the 50 over 50 portrait experience. Here is my why! Almost 10 yrs ago I was able to gift my nana the time of her life. She had blessed this earth with 93 beautiful yrs. She was a mother of 3 girls, a nana to 10 grands and a widow to an amazing husband. She has a beautiful sister who also lost her husband and was able to create beautiful memories in their 70s and 80s traveling the country.

The time before and around the portraits had been hard for her. She had lost a lot of her independence and she was sometimes sad. Grateful to have her daughter who took care of her but sad for the life she was no longer living.

As she spent time with my hair and makeup artist and then with a massage therapist and then sat to get her nails done she felt seen and heard. Her confidence boosted and she was ready to have her portraits taken.

She stepped in front of the camera nervous but feeling loved. It was hard for her to see me clearly and keep eye contact but we worked through it and created some beautiful memories before she was done.

At the end of the time together my sisters and I walked her outside where my aunt picked her up. She turned to me and said this was the best day in a really long time. That gift she gave me lives with me to this day. And frankly I know it will always live with me. Making her feel special was just a small part of that day.

Unfortunately she passed away less then a yr later at 94 beautiful yrs. But here I am 10 yrs later sharing her story and giving this gift to the amazing women I work with. You are worth having your portraits taken and sharing them and the experience, with loved ones because one day this is all they will have of you.

Happy Birthday to my heart and soul. This girl is why my sisters and I have grey hairs peaking through, but we wouldn't have it any other way. This is 11 yrs of photographing her for her birthday. Well, part of the 11 yrs. Lol. Instagram limits you to 10 portraits... she was 2 or 3 in the last portrait, and it was in the snow. She was a trooper always!!!
