Virgil Abloh’s passing hit in an unexpected way. He was your favorite artists’ favorite artist. He was the one who inspired us all on another level as a designer and creative. He could make a freaking refrigerator look cool and hypebeast and then probably do a crazy press worthy installation at the MET the next day. No joke. I think why this one hurts so much (for someone who doesn’t know him personally) is we have lost an incredible titan of creative inspiration we now have to live without for the rest of our lives.
This along with divine signs I’ve been experiencing and Art Basel going on this week has been a wake up call. Days, weeks, months go by and you can be slaving away doing something that your soul was not meant to do. We have one life. Everyday is limitless. What’s the grandest scale you can share your gift to the world? I love AVSD and it’s also my souls work but it’s time to restructure and to properly have a team in place so I can be less in it and more of an overseer - freeing several days a week to be in the studio. Artwork is screaming to get out of my head and heart and into the world.
I feel this is a wake up call to artists everywhere. This work is not just for us - but for the world for history for culture! It’s for work that will live beyond us. And this takes another level of dedication, Vision and crazy but aligned work ethic.
Taking this moment to heart - remembering his legacy. Best way to honor it is to LFG 🎨🔥🔥🔥
