Julia Margaret Cameron, the British photographer who picked up her camera for the first time at age 50, is a reminder to us all that it's never too late to start something new. ✨
Cameron sought to portray emotions, mythological figures, and ancient heroes in her works and roped in any nearby friend or family member to star in her rich, sometimes sentimental portraits and tableaux vivants.
She took more than 20 portraits of her favorite niece and namesake, Julia Jackson, pictured here. Julia went on to give birth to a daughter, Virginia, who in 1926 wrote the first book on her great-aunt's photographs.
