Weekend backpacking trip ✔️_.renteria and I did a little over 10mile hike over the weekend at Georgetown lake trails and did hammock camping. It was definitely a success. With a lot of time to rethink about the vlog; I will finally be posting some stuff soon again. I am also looking to do the 26 mile loop in the next few weeks! Super stoked for it 🙌

The word DHOBU means sworn brothers in Lhomi culture.
Traditionally when two guys exchange a cup of sake and some gifts to be brothers for life; they really live as brothers. These are some traditions found in lot of cultures around the world. It makes me think humans really can’t live alone. We need brothers, we need community, we need people in our lives to stand up for us.
My dad used to have a Dhobu and I have always seen him as an integral part of the family. When he passed away my parents were as heartbroken as they would for their own blood.
Although in this picture and my neighbor didn’t really get to have the ceremony; they did get to share a little bit of the experience of that friendship. They did promise to have an official Dhobu celebration next time they meet.
