This was probably my favorite part of the photoshoot. Andie mentioned she liked the blurred leaves effect so I'm glad we were able to get a few like this. This day-before-wedding photoshoot allowed me to tell a short story of their First Look in their outfits, walking through the garden, and dancing together. It was a beautiful moment to capture. And much more enjoyable than standard "stand here and do this pose" style photoshoots. Though there's a place for everything, of course.

I've never worked with professional models before so figuring out how to pose my subjects is always top of mind for me. It was fun encouraging Ben and Andie to try a whimsical pose like this! I wish we had more time to capture each pose with perfect focus and lighting. That's been the case which almost every photoshoot I've done, though: we're always in a rush. I need to intentionally be more patient in my photoshoots and trust myself when I know I haven't gotten "the shot" yet. It might be a bit awkward in the moment to keep the subjects in an awkward state, but that awkward moment in time seems insignificant when you consider that the picture will/could last forever. And of course, as I hone my camera skills and get better equipment I'll get better pictures faster.

I didn't expect to feel so nostalgic for school! I'm really missing the vibrant community I was surrounded with every day. I would't say I took it for granted but I wish I cherished it more, especially in the first two years.

I believe this photo was taken early before my last Formals at Quad. I spent a lot of my senior spring taking photos at events and thesis photos and this day felt like the last hurrah of taking pictures for fun with my friends. I continued to take many more but they were often quite rushed due to the hectic circumstances of and .

PS: can you beleive I haven't worn a suit since high school prom? Ryan's spiffy look here makes me want one.
