Through the Looking Glass — Action.

Black History Month may have ended yesterday.
But we live in a world where Black lives matter every day.

We don’t need just one month to be recognized.
Black excellence deserves to be honored daily.

I may not have been alive to march in earlier movements,
but in 2020, I understood what it meant to walk beside friends —
to demonstrate that we’ve come too far to accept being judged by the color of our skin.

We made space.
In streets.
In conversations.
In rooms that matter.

Because we matter.

History is not passive.
It moves. It marches. It demands.

Black lives are not a trend.
Not a moment.
But a reality that deserves protection, visibility, and equity.

Black History Month is remembrance —
but it is also responsibility.

The story continues because we continue.

Through the Looking Glass

Love, to me, isn’t loud.
It’s the quiet reflection.
The way two people meet each other’s gaze and stay there.

It’s in the softness.
In the stillness.
In the way he looks at her —
and the way she looks back.

No performance.
No noise.
Just connection that speaks without saying much.

This month I’m honoring identity, freedom, and legacy —
but today, I’m honoring love.

The kind that reflects.
The kind that chooses.
The kind that sees and is seen.

This photo was from an engagement shoot — a fun location and such a great couple to work with. One of my favorite images from that day.

I got to test out the Canon EOS R8 (love that we can rent cameras during the event 🙌🏾). Lightweight, powerful, and handled the lighting beautifully. Definitely a mini powerhouse.

Through the Looking Glass

Freedom, to me, isn’t noise.
It’s presence.
It’s standing fully in who you are without shrinking or asking permission.

I took this photo during my first AfroPunk experience at Commodore Park in 2016.
It was the first time I witnessed creative freedom expressed so boldly —
through art, sound, fashion, and identity — all existing without explanation.

That moment reshaped how I understand freedom.
Even within structured spaces.
Even within corporate rooms.
Freedom and identity don’t disappear — they adapt.

This month is about more than dates on a calendar.
It’s about identity, love, legacy, wisdom, and rest —
the layers that shape who we are and who we’re becoming.

February is just the beginning of the story.
