My Projects Runway

My Projects Runway My Projects Runway is a storytelling platform that challenges the stereotypes placed on New York City public housing residents.

It highlights people, culture, trends, and deep history. We accept photos and stories from the past and the present.

Do you know that NYCHA signs are getting a whole new look and feel?

The iconic signs that have inspired the culture are being tossed and thrown to the garbage. .projectsrunway has been documenting the new sign upgrades check out our highlight.

The new look and feel is needed as people advocate for building repairs and upgrades to their local complexes.

My goal is preserve as many of the old signs as possible and get them sent over to the to exhibit how iconic and inspirational these signs have been.

If you have any information or can help us save some before they all go to the trash send us an email/dm 🧱🗽

Jasmin Sanchez apart of “ Community Matriarch’s of NYCHA” when she was a little girl at Baruch Houses.

When we interviewed each woman they all went down memory lane to talk about birthdays, Christmas, and playing with dolls.

What are some of your favorite memories growing up in the projects?

My Projects Runway is a passion project that I started in April 2020 to change the narrative about “The Projects” and to give people a platform to share their own stories. I am happy to announce my partnership with the National Public Housing Museum x My Projects Runway. We launched a national campaign this month called “Through the People.” This gives public housing residents across the states an opportunity to upload their archives and write a small story that will be stored in the museum’s archives and featured on a digital exhibition.

Please share with family, friends, and colleagues who may have a shared experience. “ Through the People” provides people with an opportunity to write their history so that it could never be erased as gentrification is sweeping through low-income communities across the country.

Hi! I have exciting news to share. My Projects Runway has collaborated with Photoville and Abrons Arts Center for this year's 2021 photo exhibition. About a dozen women were chosen to represent the Lower East Side because of their contribution to the community.

" Community Matriarchs of NYCHA" can be found around the Henry Street Settlement campus and in NYCHA complexes in the LES.

LOWER EAST SIDE, Manhattan — There’s a new photo exhibit launching this week of women making a difference in their NYCHA communities. It’s called “the Community Matriarchs of NYCHA.& #82…
