I’ve been trying to make it more of a priority to document the everyday moments of my kids’ lives — the little slices of childhood that pass by so quickly.

These aren’t the big milestone moments, but they’re the ones that make up their childhood — the spontaneous adventures, the messy fun, the joy of just being kids.

So here’s your reminder (and mine): the everyday is worth documenting too. 🤍

Because one day, these “ordinary” moments will be the memories we’re most grateful to have.

Sometimes in the middle of a session, I’ll look at a parent and say, “Pick them up for a snuggle.”

And sometimes I get the look — especially from those big 9 and 10 year olds who suddenly feel way too grown up to be scooped up by mom or dad. Parents laugh, kids squirm, and everyone wonders why I'm insisting on this moment.

But here’s the thing… one day will be the last time you pick them up. And you probably won’t even realize it when it happens.

One day they’ll be too tall, too busy, too independent. The days of wrapping their arms around your neck and fitting perfectly in your arms will quietly pass by without any announcement.

That’s why I ask for the snuggle.
Because years from now, when you look back at these photos, I don’t want you to just see what your family looked like. I want you to remember how it felt — the weight of them in your arms, their cheek against yours, the way they still needed you even while growing up.

So yes, even if they’re nine… or ten… or rolling their eyes a little — pick them up anyway.

Those are the moments worth holding onto. 🤍

I've been having minor anxiety over my daughter's oral procedure for a few weeks. She needed a frenectomy due to an overgrowth of fibrous labial tissue growing down between her upper front teeth.

My first shout-out goes to Shannon, the amazing hygienist at Montgomery Family Dental. She was so sweet, engaging, and comforting for Olive (and secretly, for me, too).

Secondly, Dr. Huiras and his easy-going nature made us feel at ease and confident. Olive just knows him as "Vivi's Dad", but he's a pretty great dentist, too. 😉

Now on to a weekend full of snuggles, ice cream, popsicles, and pudding!
