🎮 Summer is in full swing at NOLAGROWN Esports, and our interns are already leveling up!

Over the past few weeks, our students have gone beyond playing games—they’ve been exploring the careers that power the gaming and tech industry. From learning about video game quality assurance and game testing with DAQA to building real-world technology, teamwork, and career-readiness skills, they’re discovering that gaming can be a pathway to opportunity.

Every workshop, every challenge, and every conversation is helping prepare the next generation of creators, innovators, and industry professionals.

This is what looks like. 🚀

What happens when you hand the controller to a city leader?

Join us for another edition of Game Check NOLA, where our youth interns sit down with Councilman Jason Hughes for an honest conversation about civics, community, leadership, and public service—all through the lens of gaming.

Then… it’s game time. 🏁🔥

After the interview, our youth will challenge Councilman Hughes to a few rounds of Mario Kart to see if he has what it takes to bring home the W.

At NOLAGROWN, we believe gaming is more than entertainment—it’s a platform to build relationships, inspire future leaders, and create meaningful conversations between young people and the leaders shaping our city.

We’ve been coaching esports at for a couple years now. But we always wanted to show that we could bring more than competition ... we could bring real learning too.
This program did that. Five weeks, real coding tools, real game development, and a final showcase these students earned. Partnering with and to make it happen for OUR school ... that meant a lot. This is what the work is really about.

Today is the big day! Anyone with a ticket to Sunday’s game is now also eligible to participate in in the NOLAGROWN Community Gaming Night NBA 2K tournament. Your game ticket is your entry into the tournament.

Grand Prize being an opportunity to be on the floor with players firing warmups.

Event Highlights
Xbox and PS5 will be the main consoles for tournament play.
Nintendo Switches will be available for free play
A racing simulator will also be set up for attendees to enjoy

Parking
Vehicle parking during the pre-game event is free from 12:30pm-3:30PM in CHAMPIONS GARAGE (map attached)
Your vehicle must be moved by 5:00pm. (Confirmed with Operations!)
Vehicle parking for the game after 4:00pm is available in the Superdome garages for $30.

Today is the day! and are hosting a citywide NBA 2K tournament, Youth Resource Fair, and Gun Trade-In for Gaming Systems on December 20th at Milne Rec Center.

🕚 Registration: 11am
🕛 Tournament: 12pm–4pm

Schools with 5+ participants receive $250 for their STEM program, and the winning school earns $500. The tournament champion takes home a PS5.

As part of our commitment to community safety, families can participate in a gun trade-in program, exchanging fi****ms for gaming systems.

This is a family-friendly event with food trucks and youth resources. Come reboot community, creativity, and connection with us. Special thanks to all our sponsors and partners.
