Once a year, the Mardi Gras Indians parade from Bayou St. John up Orleans Avenue in New Orleans. I was lucky enough to catch them this year and take in their incredible suits—true works of art, beautifully crafted with intricate beads and feathers. It’s one of the many things I love about New Orleans!

We had the pleasure of joining Olivia (our youngest daughter) and her incredible colleagues at Rebuilding Together New Orleans for the kickoff of She Builds, a program series dedicated to supporting women in need through critical home repairs.
We’re so proud of the work they’re doing in our community!
And as you can see, Olivia’s clients absolutely adore her!

I love photographing Barkus! It is my favorite Mardi Gras parade! And the only New Orleans parade for dogs!

One of the best parts about owning a photo booth company is getting to set up a booth at every party we host. Had such a great time and made amazing memories with my TP Photo Department family!

This week has brought a flood of Hurricane Katrina remembrances. Looking back at the photos I took then reminds me of the incredible strength it took—for the city as a whole, and for every New Orleanian I know—to rebuild lives, homes, and spirits. Celebrate Resilience!

This past Sunday, Rev. Marian D. Fortner surprised me by holding up a framed page from The Times-Picayune featuring my photo of the devastation—and later the reopening—of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church after Hurricane Katrina. She shared with the congregation that the image reached people around the world and helped inspire over $1 million in donations to rebuild the church and school.
It was a powerful reminder of the impact photography and journalism can have. I’m grateful to have played even a small role in that story of hope and renewal.

Hurricane Katrina (2005)—riding in a Humvee with the Army National Guard through St. Bernard Parish. A powerful reminder of why and matter.
