A slow, fierce pride lights his dark eyes. He pushes off the desk and crouches down, deliberately, purposefully, meeting me eye to eye.
"You are that diamond, Madison. The pressure tried to destroy you. Instead, it forged you."
His bloody knuckles rested on his thighs, but his voice was gentle. "Any man who looks at you and sees shame instead of strength.... is not worthy to breathe your air."
