Some mornings the fog doesn’t just sit on the water, it swallows everything. Sound dulls, the horizon disappears, and the pier feels like it stretches into nowhere.

But the regulars show up anyway. Bucket in one hand, coffee in the other, stepping into the gray like they’ve done a hundred times before.

Waiting on the tide.
