The colors of the desert are my biggest inspiration. 2 years ago today Shane and I left California and drove to Tennessee. Looking back at these photos makes my heart ache for another road trip. One where we don’t have a timeline, end destination or places to be. I think we all have that memory or a memory of a trip we’ve played out in our minds. One that pulls at your soul. One that gives you that inner craving to leave tonight. One that you daydream about. Those are the trips worth taking.

I used to really want to fit in. I wanted to be accepted by the popular crowd and I would change anything and everything about myself to do it.

But what I’ve learned is this: what makes you different is what makes you special.

Copying people, copying ideas, copying styles, trying to change to fit your style to what’s trending…it’s always going to leave you 5 steps behind.

Pave your own path. Create things that light YOU up, for YOU. People love to see passion grow. And I bet you’ll end up loving the end result even better anyways. 😉✌️

The camera, the backdrops, the props and the equipment doesn’t make one a photographer or make a great photo happen. It’s the artist behind all of that. It’s the years spent experimenting. The years spent gathering inspiration. The years spent honing the craft. The years spent learning, doing and messing up. THAT is something one cannot imitate or ever copy. THAT is what sets you apart from all the copycats. From those that try to do what you do. So keep doing what feels right to YOU and don’t worry about the rest.

The never ending branding project .

I wouldn’t want it any other way. From merch design, creative direction, concerting, graphic work, website development, email marketing, social media management, product photography and more - Whiskey Roots has my heart and is a project with a whole lotta soul. I can’t wait to see what comes next.

Highly recommend dreaming big and giving it your all. Big shoutout to my friend, business partner and the other half to whiskey roots ❤️‍🔥. It’s whiskey rootS not whiskey root 😉.

Keep creating. What an exhausting concept. I had this idea one day to take photos of our hats like this. I’d put a boot on, the hat would balance on top and that’s it. That’s the concept.

To keep creating is to keep inventing. To keep producing art is to keep pushing your own creative boundaries. There will always be another idea, another concept, another thought. I think that’s the magic of art.

What does it mean to own a business? It’s been a while since I truly sat down and posted on here from my heart and I guess it’s that time again 😂.

To me, owning a business means working more hours than I ever did at a 9-5 job but these are different types of hours. They’re hours moving from project to project to client to client and randomly dropping it all to work on a hair brained idea that ran into your head. (This is not hustle culture or a glamorization of that ideal).

It’s feeling like you’re the least talented person you know while also feeling so incredibly proud of yourself for how far you’ve come - yet you still keep pushing for more.

It’s having discipline to do things you don’t want to do, to figure things out that you’ve never even thought of before and to look back at the work you’ve done and think, “damn I did that”.

You did that. Nobody else pushed you to do it. You got yourself there, here, where you will keep moving forward. You’ll keep figuring it out as you go (surprise, we allllll do this). You’ll keep going at the pace that is right for you, not for anyone else. 🤍

The album is such a scrapbook of my life and every song feels like it represents a different part of me. Sometimes I’m messy, sometimes I’m sweet. I love Jesus and I love gettin’ wild on Fridays. True life is never just one thing, and for this album I wanted a visual representation of that. As you’ve probably noticed, this scene has shown up in a few places and represents the album as a whole. But each of the songs are individually symbolized as well.
