It's been quite a while since I've posted a Joshua Gull Photography update. In the 16 years that photography has been a part of my life--the last 7 of which have been under the umbrella of a professional business--it's played many roles. What started as a high school hobby became an editorial side business and grew into a fully fledged labor of love documenting the raw emotions of the happiest day in people's lives.
Through all of that, one constant has remained, and that constant is change.
Photography, for me, has been ever-evolving, and that's no different now. If you've noticed that things have been quiet with my photography business lately, it's because I've been on a sabbatical of sorts to focus on life.
Through this time away from my business it's helped me to realize that in this season of life I need to continue to focus on life rather than business. As such, I will no longer be accepting wedding commissions through Joshua Gull Photography. Operating a successful wedding photography business requires an incredible level of attention and dedication along with working odd hours/days, and while I've always been up for that task personally, my prioritizes have slowly shifted over the last few years since becoming a parent.
It's been an incredible journey capturing the memories of all the couples I've worked with--many of which I'm blessed to call lifelong friends--and I wanted to take a moment to thank each couple that entrusted me with the honor of documenting their wedding day as well as every person that's supported me in my business along the way (of which there are too many to name, you know who you are).
I've always looked at change as an opportunity for growth, and I'm excited to see what the future holds. In the meantime, this page will stay up but my wedding photography website at www.joshuagull.com will be archived for the time being. This, however, is hardly the end of my photographic journey. If you wish to follow along, the most updated content will be posted to my Instagram account at https://www.instagram.com/joshuagull/ where you'll see personal stuff, my weekly submissions for our family documentary collective at http://www.familyofphotographers.com/ (which has become a passion project of mine), any content shared from my work with The Black & White Collective (http://www.blackandwhitecollective.com/ or https://www.instagram.com/theblackandwhitecollective/ for more information) and whatever else is yet to come. Here's to new more new beginnings!
All the best,
Josh
