This week, my wife's mother passed away quite unexpectedly from cancer. It came as a shock to the entire family.

As you can imagine, it's been a difficult time for my father-in-law, Bob. My wife and I are trying our best to support him through this process.

We are collecting donations to help Bob with groceries, and the medical bills which have accumulated from the cancer treatments. If you are inclined to help, I've attached a link to my Venmo, below. 100% goes directly to his expenses.

All the way from Tampa, Kamenar put on an electric show at the Basement East in Nashville last weekend.

It gave me the perfect opportunity to test out the 📸 Nikon Z5ii! Pairing it with the 135mm f1.8 Plena made an awesome low-light combo!

🌸 Yoshino Cherry blossoms only last 2 weeks out of the year at most around Nashville. But with the ice storm and late freeze, we only had a few days before they were gone. 🍃
Luckily my Nikon Z5ii and 135/1.8 Plena arrived just in time to capture some white & pink blossoms!

Unboxing the Nikon Z5ii mirrorless camera! 📷

Having shot on the Z6 since its release, the Z5ii sports a ton of upgrades. I'm loving the image quality, especially when paired with the Nikkor Plena 135mm f/1.8 S. 🔥

I also can't wait to dive into the video features like capturing in N-Log and color grading NEV files.

RIP Brad Arnold

I've been a 3 Doors Down fan as long as I can remember.
I grew up with their "Away from the Sun" album spinning in my walkman CD player.
I never would've dreamed I'd be photographing their 20th Anniversary tour two decades later. Brad's passing is hard, not only because he was a talented musician, but a good person as well.

Nashville was hit really hard in the recent Ice Storm. ❄️ Electric is still out for 100K+ people, and my studio & home suffered water damage.

Through all of that, I found a little silver lining when the sun hit the ice just right. ☀️

Using a prism filter, I can show a wider spectrum that these neon bar signs give off.

I've truly enjoyed capturing several live performances recently in Nashville, TN. However, photographing live musicians is no easy feat, especially in the late hours of the night. 🌙

As the pulsing stage lights cast a bright glow behind the musicians, the electric energy is felt not only in the room, but also in the photographs. (At least that's my intention as a photographer of music.)

It's a not a race, but a well-choreographed dance -- one of tempo and tone -- to capture the spirit of the performance. A steady rhythm of decisive moments captured: the crescendo of a guitar solo, the clash of the cymbals or the momentary breath between notes. 🎸

But honestly though, I just like the flashing lights and pretty colors! 🤣
