Each year, we spend hours curating all the special little details that go into our FLORA attendee bags. No two bags are quite the same, and we make a conscious effort to fill them with thoughtful things that support small businesses.

We’re proud to say that, with the exception of one little gold pen, this year’s bags included goodies from 10 local businesses and five more off-island businesses. That’s 15 small businesses we had the pleasure of supporting through FLORA!

The bags themselves were generously sponsored by our dear friends at Four Winds Gifts, who selected these beautiful ShoreBags canvas totes and had each one embroidered with our FLORA logo. They’re sturdy, practical, and something we hope our attendees will use for years to come.

Four Winds is Nantucket’s oldest gift shop, and one of those wonderful little island treasures where you can find something for just about everyone. Tucked down near the wharf, it’s filled with thoughtfully selected gifts and beautiful finds.

Their shelves are already lined with the cutest things for Christmas Stroll, so if you’re on the island, make sure to pop in, say hello, and support this incredible locally owned and operated small business.

Thanks to The Floral Society our beloved friends and major sponsors of FLORA, all of our attendees had the opportunity to design in their beautiful ceramic vessels on both days of our retreat. They were also able to interact and see all of the candles + candle holders TFS sponsored for the stunning tablescape Max and Rachael created together 🕯️

On day one, attendees designed in The Floral Society’s Ceramic Oval Compote under the guidance of Max Gill On day two, they explored a different approach to floral design using the Ceramic Ikebana Vase with rachael ann lunghi

The Floral Society offers an incredible wholesale program, one we’ve made great use of this summer and wholeheartedly encourage our fellow floral industry friends to explore.

Sierra and her team at TFS have been such valued partners throughout this entire season. From our hotel collaboration with 21 Broad Hotel | Nantucket to our summer creative retreat with Ariella Chezar and now FLORA, their generosity and support have been woven into so much of what we’ve created.

At the heart of our partnership is a shared belief that flowers matter, and so do the people and communities that surround them. It’s a belief that informs so much of what we do, and one we’re grateful to share with people who care just as deeply.

Day one of FLORA, and we have all the feels. ♡

This tremendous group of humans travelled from near and far to be here, and we couldn’t be more thankful. What a joy it has been to meet every single one of you, share stories, and spend the day creating together.

Our hearts are full, and there’s so much more magic to make tomorrow. ♡

Friends of FLORA deserve a permanent place on our feed.

So many of the businesses and partners who support this event are local businesses, and asking them to be part of what makes FLORA so special has never been about asking for things for free, because time and resources are valuable.

A dear friend recently reminded me that a community is more than an event. It is a group of people connected by shared interests, values, and a sense of place.

I am incredibly proud of the community that has grown around FLORA, and of the one I have worked to build here over the last decade. It is a community fueled by supporting one another, championing education and creativity, showing up for each other, and leaving egos at the door.

Every year, I try to infuse a little bit of what makes Nantucket so special into FLORA. That means bringing the people, products, and businesses I genuinely love into our attendees’ experience. Sometimes that looks like a partnership. Sometimes it means purchasing from a local business. Sometimes it means introducing 25 people who have traveled from all corners of the country to a place or person I hope they will remember long after they leave, and support their craft at home.

FLORA takes an entire year to plan, and next week we get to welcome those 25 people to our island and share a little of what makes this place so extraordinary.

We could not do it without our community around us.

To our Friends of FLORA: thank you for believing in what we are building, for showing up, and for helping us share a little piece of home with everyone who comes here.
