Headed down to Ocean City, MD last weekend for a youth basketball tournament, but as usual, the camera didn’t spend much time in the bag between games.

From catching the quiet 5:30 AM sunrise light on the boardwalk to the bright, chaotic colors of the storefronts later in the day, the coast is always a masterclass in lighting contrasts. Also took a little detour over to Frontier Town in Berlin and had a blast capturing the high-energy action of the Wild West shows.

Finished the trip with a classic night walk on the planks, watching the ferris wheel light up the beach.

How many split-second moments are we missing because we’re watching through a tiny phone screen? 📸⚾️

Every parent wants to capture the perfect swing, the dirt flying on a slide into home, or that laser-focused look on the pitcher's mound. But youth sports move fast, and trying to burst-shoot from the bleachers usually means you end up missing the actual magic of the game in real life.

That’s where the real joy of sports photography comes in. Behind the lens, it’s an absolute rush to freeze those fractions of a second - the exact moment the bat meets the ball, or the sheer determination during a close play at second base. It’s about letting parents completely put the phones away, sit back, and just enjoy the game, knowing every ounce of grit and energy is being preserved in high-fidelity.

Youth sports seasons fly by in a blur, but a frozen moment on the diamond lasts forever.
