Yesterday afternoon, I lost my mother. My sister and I sat with her for days as the inevitable approached. Big moments like these always inspire a flood of mixed emotions: love, pride, fear, and anger, among others.

72 is far more life than many people, but it still feels less than what she deserved.

I am ultimately glad she filled those 72 years with family, career, countless friends, and travel. We should all be so fortunate to live such a good life.

Rest now and be at peace, Sarah. You will undoubtedly be missed by many.

Last Sunday I went back to .hut to spend some time with friends and their daughters. We had some delicious soft serve and pretzels.

They also had a white turkey which had a ton of sass as I took some photos. I learned that turkeys have a third eyelid from these photos. The second and third photos will show you the turkeys open eye and the third eyelid closed. Super fun.

Can't wait until the peacocks are allowed out to wander around.

.f.i.s.h.e.r and I took to the .hut for a hike. We didn't realize they had massively overhauled the place inside and out. The had the most adorable juvenile long-haired called Amy that was obsessed with the dogs.

We are definitely going back when the and are allowed out to play.

Went to the festival on Saturday and caught and doing their amazing fire dancing. Tons of great photos to come.

I love this style of photography. Would have loved to be able to bring a flash and a controlled environment to really showcase how fun the fire was.

Adult relationships are weird. Since we met years ago we’ve spent the majority of almost every day together and rather than growing tired of her company I find myself missing her company when not around.

She used to find my need to stop and photograph things annoying as it slowed down whatever activity we were doing but after stepping behind the camera herself she jump headlong into a new hobby. It seems to suit her introverted nature.

It is annoying how quickly she started going from snapshots to incredible photos, often inspiring jealousy in getting better shots.

It is a constant reminder that couples grow and change together and when that growth is healthy it makes a stronger connection and a better life.

I look forward to many more years of her putting up with my incessant photo snapping and competing for more impressive photos.

Aka I love the woman behind that camera.
