Today, I said goodbye to news.

It was my last day at WDAM 7, and though it’s bittersweet, I’m very excited for what the future holds! I’ve been in news for five years now, but I know that God’s got me no matter what I do or where I go.

Thank y’all for coming on this reporting journey with me! This experience has been something I’ll never forget.

My friends, we're expecting heavy rain and flash flooding today. Multiple counties are already under a flash flood warning. A tornado was confirmed north of New Orleans. Rivers and creeks are rising, and more rain is expected. Mind you, it's not even 8 AM yet.

Some would say that it goes without saying, but I'm going to say it anyway. Turn around, don't drown. Your car cannot make it through floodwaters. If you're driving in this rain, use your windshield wipers and drive patiently. Be wary of other drivers. Above all, be responsible and be safe.

Today’s tragedy in Petal is one I’ll never forget. My heart certainly goes out to the victim and her family.

Please, remember to turn around when you see flood waters. Your car cannot make it through it. Turn around, don’t drown. You can replace a car, but you can’t replace your life.
