The Johnson County Fair has always been so much more than rides, ribbons, and livestock.
It’s a place where kids learn what hard work really means. Where early mornings, late nights, and countless hours of dedication turn into confidence. It’s where responsibility is taught, respect is earned, resilience is built, and gratitude grows. Not every lesson comes with a blue ribbon, but every lesson lasts.
Watching my own babies enjoy the fair reminds me just how special this tradition is, and I hope they grow up experiencing the same values that so many generations before them have.
This year is especially meaningful because it’s my brother’s 10th year participating. Watching his journey over the years as well as my own many year’s ago has been such a reminder of what this community is all about encouraging young people to work hard, support one another, and become the kind of adults our world needs more of.
I’m incredibly grateful for everyone who pours their time, energy, and heart into making the Johnson County Fair what it is. The volunteers, families, leaders, and exhibitors all help create something that shapes lives in ways that go far beyond one week each summer.
Here’s to celebrating tradition, community, and the lessons that last a lifetime. ❤️🌾
