Lone Star Trail Photography by Pennie Stanley Born from quiet hikes down Texas trails, Lone Star Trail Photography is my way of sharing the journey through a camera lens.

Through Scripture-centered devotionals, each trail, sky, and landscape becomes a place of encouragement.

Hello, September. 🍂

I’m ready to see what you have for me.

The changing light.
The cooler mornings.
The things that are beginning to let go.
The quiet reminder that God is still working—even when we can’t see what He’s doing yet.

September, I’m not asking you to be perfect.
I’m not rushing into everything this season will bring.

I’m just choosing to be present.

To notice the beauty.
To make room for peace.
To trust God with what comes next.

There's something about being surrounded by trees that makes everything else feel a little quieter.

Some days the fog feels thick...

The thoughts are heavy. The heart is tired.
Sometimes the feelings run deeper than we know how to explain.

There is a God who is faithful in the fog.
A God who holds us when we don't have the strength to hold ourselves.
A God who is working when we cannot see beyond what is in front of us.

Sometimes we look at what’s ahead and wonder, how am I ever going to get through this?

The mountain looks too big. The road ahead is uncertain. We can’t see what’s around the next curve.

Caleb saw the same giants everyone else saw. He simply chose to see them through the eyes of faith.

He knew something the others had forgotten: God was bigger than the mountain.

“But my servant Caleb…has followed me wholeheartedly.” Numbers 14:24

The road may curve, the destination hidden, and the mountain may look intimidating, but the One leading already knows what’s around the corner.

This past weekend I turned off my GPS.

I took the long road home. Driving allows me time to decompress and refocus during a busy schedule.

I love traveling the backroads of Texas…between the quiet roads, old fences and familiar Texas scenery,
I get to slow down to enjoy the beauty around me.

Hello, August.

This barn has weathered countless storms, standing as a reminder that strength isn’t found in avoiding difficult seasons, but in remaining firmly rooted through them.

As this new month begins, my prayer is simple:
May we trust the One who sees beyond today’s horizon and remain faithful where He has planted us.

“Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.” — Hebrews 13:8

After a few weeks away in Yellowstone, I'm grateful to be back.

Sometimes we need to step away from the routines of life, slow our pace, and stand in awe.

I'm looking forward to sharing a few moments from this journey over the coming days.

A few moments from this weekend..
Every photograph is a reminder that God's creation has the ability
to stop us in our tracks and invite us to look a little closer.

My hope is that these images encourage you to pause today -
Not just to admire creation but to worship the Creator.

Summer Thoughts…

Spring is full of beginnings, but summer is where things become visible. The seeds hidden beneath the soil begin to stand taller. The blooms are no longer just promises—they’re evidence.

Faith is often the same.

We pray in seasons when nothing seems to be changing. We keep showing up, trusting God is working beneath the surface. Then one day we look around and realize He has been growing something in us all along.

“He who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion…” — Philippians 1:6
