🔅 It was a HOT Summer across the Lowcountry, in fact it was the third hottest in Charleston history! After a hot August, it will be a warm start to September as well with temperatures back in the middle 90s.

Hello Tropical Depression 5 🌀

This system is expected to become Tropical Storm Edouard over the next 24 hours before making landfall near the Sabine Pass or between Lake Charles, LA and Houston, TX

This storm will likely remain a tropical storm and bring heavy rainfall to Southeast Texas before weakening over land, the tropics are quiet elsewhere.

It was rainy, cloudy, relatively mild Saturday across the Lowcountry, but things are about to change. We turn hotter and drier through the week. Going to feel more like July than the first week of September…

Unfortunately looks like the clouds are going to mostly win where I’m at, but was able to get this brief obscured look at the moon before clouds came back over. Get a good look at it where you are? I’d love to see your pictures!

🌙 Lunar Eclispe Tonight!! If you’re up at midnight be sure to look up for a chance to see a partial lunar eclipse or the “blood moon”. The one big issue could be cloud cover (in blue) and lingering rain across the Lowcountry, but hopefully we’ll get some breaks in the clouds.

Partial Eclipse begins at 10:33pm, ending at 1:51am in Charleston. The peak or best time to look will be at 12:12am.

Hello Dolly, this storm may not be around very long. It will likely hit the islands in the (jet)stream, a sheared environment will keep intensification & longevity for this system pretty tough.

Check this out! We were able to capture the SpaceX Launch this morning on our Edisto skycam!! Such a cool shot!

🌀 Tropics Update 🌀

System 1: Given a 50% chance of development over the next week, it will curve out in the Atlantic and pose no threat to the US.

System 2: Emerging off the coast of Africa, no development over the next 2 days, but given a 50% chance of development over the next 7 days. This storm is a LONG way away from the US, and is way too early to know if there will be any impacts, but it most likely will curve out to sea.

Long story short, it’s active, but nothing is concerning or posing any threat to the US yet, but as always we’ll keep an eye on everything as we approach the peak of Hurricane season.
