Tornado Watch is still in effect until 8pm.

Overall the worst of the weather has stayed to our north and west so far today.
Our threat from any tornadoes is LOW through the rest of the evening, however we are watching two areas for that low chance of a tornado.

Area 1: Models have shows a few showers/storms possibly developing over the Atlantic and moving inland after sunset over northern Charleston and southern Georgetown counties.

Area 2: Just to the south and east of Statesboro, recently had a tornado warning and may come close to the northwestern parts of Colleton and Dorchester county

Overall, the threat for a quick spin up tornado is very low, but not zero, and we will be watching any storms closely through the rest of the evening.

Hurricane Isaias 3pm ET Update: Isaias is now a category 3 hurricane and will make landfall tonight on the western Florida panhandle. This storm will not bring many direct impacts to the Lowcountry, but we could still see some heavy rain, coastal flooding, and a low (but not zero) tornado threat.

South Carolina Impacts: A flood watch is in effect through Saturday rainfall of 3-4+” is possible, oceans will be very rough tomorrow, so try and avoid the beaches. Coastal High Tide flooding will reach moderate stage and may approach major levels, so some road closures are possible. We also will see the LOW (but not 0 chance) chance for some isolated damaging wind gusts of up to 60mph and a tornado or two tomorrow morning-afternoon.

For my followers/friends/family in Alabama ⬇️

Mobile/Inland Baldwin counties: Tropical storm conditions have begun and will last into the night, probably time to get where you’re gonna stay and be there for the evening through tomorrow, there is a possibility of winds tonight reaching 70mph+ this could cause power outages, tree/roof damage. Heavy rain could cause flash flooding, especially areas that received heavy rain last weekend. The tornado threat will be very low.

Orange Beach/Pensacola Area: Tropical storm conditions have begun and will get worse through the night. Winds of up to 100mph are possible, this could cause significant tree/roof/house damage! Storm surge of up to 6’ is possible with waves on top of that. Flash Flooding could also be an issue.

North Alabama: As the storm moves inland, heavy rain and gusty winds are possible late tonight and through the day tomorrow, a high wind warning is in effect until early Sunday morning, wind gusts of up to 60mph are possible, this storm will also dump a lot of rain, 3-4” with locally higher amounts possible, tornado threat is very low, but not 0

Stay safe, follow trusted sources (Local Broadcast Media, NWS Mobile) and pay attention to any warnings!

Tropical Depression 9 formed earlier today in the Gulf, this storm is forecast to be our first hurricane of the year. It will make landfall on the central Gulf Coast somewhere between New Orleans and the Florida panhandle. This forecast could change in the coming days

Regardless of changes, across South Carolina, we will not see any direct impacts. We could see some heavy rain and minor coastal flooding.

For my friends and followers in Mobile, Alabama, along the Gulf Coast ⬇️

Mobile: The current track has it very close to the Mobile Bay as a hurricane. If this track doesn’t change, you will see damaging winds, storm surge, heavy rain/flooding, and a tornado threat. The exact impacts will change as the track shifts, but be aware regardless of any shift in the track, heavy rain and impactful weather are very likely and could begin as early as Friday Morning.

Be weather aware and don’t let this be the last time you check the forecast, it will change over the next few days. Stay tuned to TRUSTED sources, such as the US National Weather Service Mobile Alabama and/or LOCAL News/broadcast meteorologists.

The Flash Flood Warning remains in effect until 1AM, but the heavy rain will be coming to an end across Charleston County over the next couple of hours.

We will see spotty showers/light rain overnight and through the day tomorrow, but the threat for any flooding is coming to an end.

Very impressive rainfall totals tonight though, we had nearly 4” at the station in Mt. Pleasant, and some spots were estimated by radar to have 6”+ of rain. How much rain did you get tonight?

Heads Up!

As of 10:06PM Sunday
Another burst of very heavy rain moving into West Ashley and Downtown

This could worsen ongoing flooding!

Flash Flood Warning remains in effect until 11PM
