If you’re planning a wedding, remember that timing is everything.

My goal as your photographer is to guide you and capture your day as it happens.

Being present is one of the best pieces of advice I can give you as your photographer.

Save this and share if you or someone else is in the process of planning a wedding!

The perfect photo?
They’re the ones you didn’t even notice were happening.
The gentle look, the admiration kisses, the belly kicks from the little one waiting to make their way into the world that wasn’t expected - those are the moments you’ll want to relive over and over.

Here are 4 tips for organic maternity photos:

1. Talk to each other, not the camera - the best moments happen when you forget I’m there. Tell each other something you love about the other and watch what happens.

2. Move slowly, with intention - walk toward each other, sway in each other’s arms, sit down together. Movement creates emotion and emotion creates the shot.

3. Touch the bump naturally - you don’t have to ask what way looks best because how you naturally connect with your baby is unique to you and less about what looks good. Touch the bump just like you do at home at 11pm when it’s quiet. THAT is the shot.

4. Start your session in silence - Most couples walk in tense from traffic, parking, life. That tension will show up in every single frame. Slow your breathing. Sit together in silence or listen to calming music to start. Let the space become familiar before the camera ever comes out. The session doesn’t start when I press the shutter - it starts when you
finally exhale.

Most importantly, don’t overthink your photos or how you’re being posed but try your best to stay focused on being present and enjoying the stillness between you and your spouse before your family grows.

Save this if you’re planning a maternity session and feel free to send it to your photographer so they know what kind of session you want.

There is no rule book for how your wedding day should look. As a people pleaser and anxious person myself, planning my wedding was difficult at times. I found myself trying to do the things I thought I was supposed to do or what I thought would please others and it pulled me in so many different directions. Not to mention, I’ve seen countless variations of wedding days throughout my career.

At the end of the day, I decided to do what was best for me and what would help keep my nerves at bay. I will never regret not having a wedding party. I will never regret asking my photographer to join my husband and me for breakfast the morning of. I will never regret doing private vows together before the ceremony. I will never regret doing our first look privately in our room so we could help each other get into our wedding attire. I will never regret spending hours going through my music library and planning our entire wedding playlist from start to finish. And I will never regret choosing a destination wedding, because it allowed us to fully enjoy and be present with each other after the festivities.

I know some people had feelings about the decisions we made but we planned our wedding exactly how we wanted to remember it. The best part of it all is that every once in a while, David will put on our wedding song (the one that played as I walked down the aisle - simply the best by billianne) and without fail, tears start running down my cheek one by one, and I follow the sound right into his arms where we will slow dance to the full song and take in the moment together. It is one of my favorite reminders of what will always be the best day of my life.

Moral of the story: do what YOU want for your wedding. Don’t let others completely influence your decisions because the day is about you and your partner, and no one else.

Forever grateful for my wedding photos ❤️‍🔥
PS. IF YOU LISTEN TO THE SONG, please comment and share your thoughts on this version of the song 🥹 am I the only one that cried when I first heard it?!

There’s some new faces here so I thought I’d reintroduce myself!

Hi, hey there, howdy! I’m Marisa and I’m a wedding and portrait photographer with years of experience in this beautiful, chaotic, and magical industry. I absolutely love capturing the moments that make a wedding day unforgettable - the quiet glances, the loud laughter, and all the love and memories in between.

In my own love story, I’ve been married for 2 years (in April) and with my husband for almost 12. We share our home with two of the sweetest yet energetic Brittany spaniels who keep life fun and a little chaotic in the best way possible! They like to think they run the house.

When I’m not photographing weddings, you’ll probably find me hanging with my husband and the girls, catching some sun rays, traveling, capturing cotton candy sunsets, or binge watching a good show. My favorite holiday is Christmas but not much of a fan of the cold weather. I’m a sucker for a good espresso martini or a cold Dr Pepper, and I love going to new coffee shops and trying their matcha or chai. I absolutely adore fresh flowers, getting my nails done, and finding any and every excuse to be around horses. Creativity is my comfort zone, whether I’m painting, drawing, exploring art museums with my best friend Britta, or adding to my tattoo collection. I’m also a huge fan of concerts, puzzles, and the occasional “good hair day” selfie session.

All of these pieces of my life shape the way I see the world - and how I photograph it. I show up to every wedding day ready to celebrate with you, support you, and document your story with intention, emotion, and a whole lot of joy.

If you’re looking for a photographer who will hype you up, keep you comfortable, notice the tiny in-between moments, and capture your love story with heart and intention, I’d love to be part of your special day! 🤍
