Greenpeace USA said it plans to appeal the decision. “We know that this fight is not over,” said Senior Legal Adviser Deepa Padmanabha, when asked if the amount of damages would end Greenpeace in the United States.

“We know that the truth and the law are on our side,” added Greenpeace International General Counsel Kristin Casper. “We will not back down, we will not be silenced.”

Greenpeace to appeal penalty delivered after a North Dakota jury on Wednesday found them liable for defamation and other claims brought by a pipeline company in connection with protests against the Dakota Access oil pipeline.

"Finally, throughout the show are photographs by Joe Brusky which display different Art Build Workers projects as they are being made. These pictures not only show the processes behind the collective’s work and their community outreach but play an important role in showing how people come together to create a better future. Several photos feature groups of artists and activists painting messages on a street and on the floor of a hallway, while others show the painting of a mural, people gathering to paint a banner, and members of the collective proudly posing in front of a sign with the words “I am voting.”

This show, like any social justice advocacy work, is a ray of hope in an often daunting and disheartening socio-political sphere. It reminds us that people are fighting every day to make the world a more equitable, sustainable, and caring place and that it is within our power to do the same. We held this message in front of an illuminated installation of the Great Lakes constructed by participants in the sands of McKinley Beach.
