Sonoma Weekend Getaway 🚂🦒🍷
Toddler-Friendly Adventures

My son just turned 3, potty trained, nap-free, and we’re officially in our mini vacation era. So we’re exploring the little cities around us, one weekend at a time. First stop: Sonoma + Santa Rosa.

Day 1: TrainTown, $10 rides through a mini model train town, bring quarters to feed the sheep and goats. Lunch at Sunflower Caffe, ice cream at Sweet Scoops after.

Day 2: Coffee at Land & Water, then Safari West, my toddler thought the tractor safari was a monster truck ride the whole time (giraffes and zebras too). Dutch Bros run while he napped. Dinner at La Rosa Taqueria & Grill downtown.

Day 3: Coffee at Crooks Coffee, then the Benziger Family Winery Biodynamic Tractor Tram Tour, our first time learning about biodynamic wine. My son got a coloring book and grape juice while we tasted. (Already scouting this vineyard light for a future family session 😍📸)

An hour and a half from the SF Peninsula and it felt like a totally different world. 😍

I love a slow Sunday.

They usually start with a workout, followed by a quick stop at my favorite bakery for fresh pineapple buns before heading home. By then, my husband is already making protein waffles for our son.

We spent the morning watching the World Cup final together before settling into a little more screen time. James was happily watching trains next to me while I culled and edited a full gallery.

By the afternoon, we all needed some fresh air, so I spent the next hour chasing my son around the neighborhood while he rode his bike and I got my steps in.

We wrapped up the day with dinner as a family, our usual bedtime routine, and I hit “deliver” on another gallery before calling it a night.

Being a Bay Area family photographer means some weekends are spent behind the camera, and others are spent catching up behind the computer. I’m grateful this business gives me the flexibility to enjoy these ordinary summer Sundays with my own little family.

Happy Father’s Day to my husband and baby daddy! 💙

Watching you become the father you are to our son has been one of the most rewarding parts of my life. I’m so lucky to have a partner who is steady, dependable, and always there for our family.

Because of you, I’m able to pursue my passion for photography, maintain a full time engineering management career, work out consistently as my me time, and spend time with my best friends. I never have to wonder if you’ll show up. You are a true partner in our home and in this life. I couldn’t do it without your support. You are my biggest fan.

James is so lucky to have a dad who is present, patient, loving, and involved in every part of his world. From the daily drop offs and pick ups to park dates and scooter adventures, you are always there.

Because of you, our son is fearlessly flying down scooter ramps at 2 years old, knows every word to our favorite Morgan Wallen and Ella Langley songs, has been on some of the most epic train adventures, and gets to enjoy your incredible homemade galbi every week.

I’m so grateful to be on this journey with you and excited for all the memories still to come. Our greatest joy and adventure is our son.

1 year ago today, I took these photos.

I recently went back and looked at one of the first photos I took last April, right around the time I started photographing families.

My nephew was at Stanford’s Cactus Garden, completely in his own little world. Curious. Focused. Just being himself.

I remember taking that photo and loving it instantly.

Looking at it again now, almost a year later, I can see how much my work has grown.

But what stood out even more is how much has stayed the same.

I’ve always been drawn to these kinds of moments. The in between ones. The personality. The realness of it.

As a San Francisco Peninsula photographer in San Mateo County, that’s still what I’m looking for every time I pick up my camera.

This is why I love newborn sessions so much.

These sessions feel so different now that I’m a mom. I used to be nervous around newborns. I thought they were so fragile and I was always worried I’d do something wrong.

Now, I walk in feeling calm. I understand their rhythms. I know when to pause, when to soothe, when to just let the moment unfold.

This session with my sister and my baby niece meant so much to me. She trusted me with everything. Holding her baby, wrapping her, gently guiding them. That kind of trust is something I don’t take lightly.

As a Bay Area newborn photographer in San Mateo County, in home newborn sessions will always be my favorite. They’re cozy, intimate, and real. No pressure. No rushing. Just your family, exactly as you are in this season.

Ten days old is such a sweet window. Awake one moment, asleep the next. The tiny stretches. The soft snuggles. The quiet in between.
