Saamis Tepee. Medicine Hat, Alberta.

As we were traveling towards Medicine Hat the idea of the Tepee was very familiar. I took a geocaching trip across Canada and some cold USA states about 10 years ago and we came here for a cache. Who would have ever thought it would be a site to visit again. The town recently had Special Olympics there and the Tepee had some upgrades and very pretty round art pieces. They each are so very special in what they symbolized.

They still have Indigenous gatherings here at the Tepee

The Visitors Center book had a nice section highlighting each one, so I’ll put those pages for reference.

We spent 4 days in this area exploring all to the credit of the really awesome lady at the visitor centre. We will make it a destination the next time we travel thru Alberta and the areas surround Medicine Hat.

Waterton Glacier International Peace Park

Little bitty border crossing, just like I like them. We went into the village and walked around. Ate a nice warm lunch since we were so wet and walked around the Peace Park. Wish we would have had weather to really take the time and stay longer. It really was beautiful.

We ended one evening staying at the St Mary Campground on the East side. Foggy. Raining. Lots of bear warning. The ranger let us know the night before they were in camp. I hurried and cooked up our chicken for dinner and finished the rest in the dry warm van.
The next morning we finished Glacier and headed to Many Glacier. We didn’t get to get too far because the road was complete slushy from the rain and so many potholes. After seeing cars on side of the road we knew it wasn’t for us that day.

Eventually we got more views and more pull outs to take little hikes that weren’t on the normal path of everyone else.

The narrow roads were pretty darn spooky to say the least.

Glacier National Park has definitely been on our list for a while. This was the beginning of our time in the park.

We parked up in a quiet spot outside the park in the National Forest and woke up ready to set out to Pole Bridge on the upper West side of the park.

Pole Bridge is a neat little spot that has a famous Mercantile that the Bakery has made it famous. The Huckleberry bear claws were worth every bit of cheat we did to our good eating habits. Oh my. The road was slightly narrow and took you out of the way of everything and everyone else. We stopped off at a few river spots to play and meander around,.
