After I got some rest after my Milky Way Galactic Core shoot, I disregarded TLC. I visited a handful of waterfalls along the north shore of Lake Superior. I started at Gooseberry Falls, made my way to High Falls near Grand Portage, Mn. Then I made my way south to see a few more.

I went Out Walking After Midnight on Friday night. I've had this Foto trip in mind for a while. I finally got myself out to do it!
This is at the Pebble Beach area adjacent to Split Rock Lighthouse. I hadn't been there before, so I didn't have a good lay of the land to include the lighthouse in any shots. The next morning, I saw that the Lighthouse was wrapped in scaffolding for some maintenance. So I didn't feel so bad. I also learned that I missed an Aurora event earlier in the evening. A residual faint glow can be seen in the first Pic.

I got up at Zero_Dark_Thirty again to go sit in a different blind this morning to watch some different birds. This spot wasn't quite so conducive for photography. It was cool to hear and see what I could of these birds though.

I was up at Zero_Dark_Thirty to sit in a blind this morning. There were about a dozen males doing their thing in front of us. We saw a few other kinds of birds. We were there for this show

We had a couple of professionals pass by to inspect our dive operation the other day. I got some crappy cellphone pix a couple of days prior. That prompted me to bring my big lens to work.

This pair passed within 10 feet from our boat while we were setting up. We took a break to admire them as they passed.

I'm a part of a crew removing aquatic invasive species across the Leech Lake Band of Ojibwe waters in northern Minnesota. Our main target is Starry Stonewart.

This was earlier in the week, on Monday. There were a lot of Showy Ladies Slippers along the road, south of Federal Dam, Minnesota. These ones were late in their season and some were beginning to senesce.

Ram's Head orchids found near Cass Lake, Minnesota has always been considered biologically rare in Minnesota, and over much of its range in northeastern North America. Reasons or its rarity in Minnesota are not entirely known. However, it has suffered a general decline largely because of habitat loss due to changes in land use.
