A few thoughts I’ve been having this morning: first, ✨this moment ✨ might be my favorite part to capture as a birth photographer. Yet, this photo right here wouldn’t be the same without all the moments of work, feelings of defeat, and exhaustion leading up it. Second, how much I love to see you guys supporting the mamas who are brave enough to share some of the most intimately vulnerable moments of their lives. I’m grateful because these women are helping to change the narrative from birth being scary and gross to birth being intense and bold yet peaceful and beautiful; wrought with moments that threaten to make your heart burst. Thank you to the mamas who are changing the way their friends and family perceive birth. You’re making a big difference up here in the North Woods. ❤️🌲

I don’t think any other kind of photography shows a journey, from start to finish, like birth photography. You get it all— the work, the time, the lowest hardest times and the blissful moments of connection in between. That lifelong juxtaposition of love coexisting with grief. Tears from the pain followed by your greatest triumph mere seconds later. Birth is epic. ✨

Baby girl wanted mama. As long as she was on her chest she was completely content and peaceful. After this quick initial check she was laid on moms chest and not bothered again for a nice long while. Love that for her ❤️

The *strength* it took for this mama to bring her baby earthside left me… Speechless. Emotional. Proud of us women and what we’re capable of. My intention is to get the blog up and going on my website but I just couldn’t wait to get this up.😍🥲 Just know that I have more to share 😉.
