I have many photos from the past, and many dreams for the future that I could potentially share; however, I see value in remaining present. This will be a rare post, but one that feels necessary for coming back online.
I mentioned previously that I'd been disconnected for quite some time; I would like to address the disconnect. The best way I can see to do that is through my imagery. I present two images, and I would like to address their contrast.
When I began, I had so many visions for what my photography could be. I enjoyed editing the images and making even the dullest moments appear full of light. Through this process my world began to lose its color and began feeling gray. Although things appeared bright, the color felt as if it was fading; and I was feeling it. This began to take its toll, and something needed to change.
I'd realized that through my photo alterations, I was also lacking my appreciation for the beauty in both the darkness and the light. I believe that my role as a photographer is to work with the light, not against it. This realization has sat with me as I've endured a wonderful endeavor that has tested me and provided me with a purpose to drive towards.
There is a balance to be obtained through the shadows, the light, and the contrast. I now aim to work along with nature as a way to capture its true essence through my lens.
"I look forward to the future,
as I live in the present,
and appreciate the past."
