Jim and Christi Photos

Jim and Christi Photos Our photographs about the Mid-South, its culture, and its beauty will engage you and pull you into their stories. We invite you to visit us and learn more.

Jim & Christi were high school sweethearts and have now been married to each other since 1970. They have three grown children who also have their own families, including a total of five grandsons, 4 grand-dogs, and two grand-cats, and their own 40-pound " ba-gle" (1/2 basset, 1/2 beagle), Jim retired in 2013 after nearly 21 years in ministry, to take care of Christi who had been forced to retire earlier due to health problems. Not long after his retirement, Jim began having health problems of his own, followed by flashbacks to his military service in Vietnam. It was very soon after that when (unknown to his family) those events took him to a very dark place. The flashbacks were so dark and so severe that he even began to contemplate taking his own life just to end the torture. Finally, Jim realized what it would do to his family if he went through with those plans. Instead he went to the Veterans Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee where he was able to get help. After several sessions with counselors, he picked up his Nikon DLSR camera, hoping it might help him in his recovery from the PTSD. It wasn't long before God, his camera, his family and his doctors were able to help him come out of that dark place. Now he sees more light in the world than darkness, and more beauty than ugliness. Christi, the rest of his family, and many of his friends convinced him that he has become very good at photography! And Jim and others have convinced Christi that she is also quite good at the post production part of photography! That makes them the perfect team to share their pictures with you! Now Jim is pursuing photography as his "retired profession" with his wife right by his side the whole way! They are now booking events with people who live in the Memphis area to take photographs at Baby Showers, Wedding Showers, Children's Birthday Parties and other special events, and ithey are enjoying every bit of that as well!

After retiring, Jim began to have flashbacks to his service in Vietnam. While going through therapy for PTSD, Jim picked up his camera and started taking photographs. People fell in love with them and encouraged Jim to pursue photography as a profession. Jim's wife Christi has been restoring old photographs for years and now she is using those skills to enhance Jim’s photographs. She takes the photographs Jim produces, works her "magic" on them, then posts them here to their page on Facebook. With Christi also acting as the Facebook site administrator, they have been displaying their photographs for a couple of years now. With over 5,000 followers and many requests to purchase their photographs, they decided to open a website so they could accommodate those requests. Together, Jim and Christi make a team that is second to none...and now they welcome you to their website home.

Credit for our new cover photo goes to our son, Michael J Kennedy, an awesome photographer in his own right. His job takes him all over the world where he has the opportunity to shoot photos that the rest of us (Kennedy's that is) would never be able to take! He took this one in São Paulo, Brazil, at sunset, with no filter on his camera! That's just how beautiful the sunsets are down there! Congratulations, Michael Kennedy, on another winner!

We have great news to share! Our new website is almost complete but has enough of our beautiful photographs on it now that we have decided to go ahead and make it live. Needless to say, we will be very busy in the next few weeks finishing it up and getting new and even more beautiful work up on it. What we want to thank you the most for during one of the most stressful time of our lives is thank you for your faithfulness to us and for your prayers during our illnesses! Without those prayers, results could have been much different! Thank you, Jim and Christi!

We are so sorry we have not been around to show you new photographs lately, but we have been busy packing, moving into our new home and then unpacking. Then just about the time we started to get settled, Jim contracted a nasty stomach virus and of course, he always shares new things with me, so guess who got it next! It's been a long time since we've been this sick at the same time....and I pray it NEVER HAPPENS AGAIN!!!!! We are both feeling better, but still not out of the woods yet, so please just bear with us as we recuperate!
