I received a wonderful surprise in the mail. When I opened it my jaw dropped. What an honor it is to receive the Distinguished Service award from my home state of Ohio. The description of the award reads: "Each year the PPO Board chooses the most deserving person who in the past and present years has exhibited dedication to photography in the fields of service, education and technology."
A board member of Professional Photographers of Ohio told me it was a unanimous vote by the board for me to have this award. I am so touched and beyond grateful. Thank you to all of the board members for this honor. This award means the world to me.

For an hour and a half today, I was in my glory, while being serenaded in my studio. I had the opportunity to photograph a fiddler who performed Irish music during his entire portrait session. How cool is that? Not one posed image. He played, I snapped hundreds of shots, and we got some authentic images capturing his essence as a musician. The fiddler is Marc Mattix, who performs with an acoustic Irish Rock band called "The Craic Brothers", who are fabulous! What a great way to start 2019!!!!

I had the privilege of photographing Tyris Dickerson, who is a running back with the Akron Archbishop Hoban High School Football Team. The team just won it's 4th straight state championship!! Tyris has been featured in the news for his contribution to the team, rushing more than 2,000 yards with 29 touchdowns. This image is him celebrating his success. He has been offered several football scholarships and has chosen to go to Eastern Kentucky University. Way to go Tyris!

I just taught an all-day workshop at Professional Photographers of Southwest Ohio. These are two of the models, Haley and Paris, both sisters, who helped out during my lighting and posing class. It was a hands-on workshop so both girls, and our other models, held their poses for a long time so that 25 people could photograph them individually. This is one of my favorite images from the workshop.

I got my kitty fix today! This is Nichole and her Scottish Fold Longhair, Larry, who is a show cat. He finished 8th in the world at the International Cat Association. I can understand why he's a top ranking feline: he's gorgeous and such a sweetheart! So is Nichole, who HATES having her picture taken, but she said I made her look pretty... and she loves this image. That makes me happy. :)
